As is the case every day during the 2018 OlyBet Kings of Tallinn poker festival, there are plenty of side events for players to choose from.
The biggest buy-in event of the festival, the €3,000 High Roller is about to begin the first of its two days shortly at 3 p.m. Players begin action with a huge stack of 35,000 in chips and are scheduled to play 14 blind levels of 40 minutes each on the first day. Players can also late-register or re-enter until the conclusion of Level 6. Additionally, players can void their stacks at the end of Level 6 if they wish to re-enter with a fresh stack of 35,000.
There is currently a €165 satellite running which will award two tickets to the High Roller and €1,650 in cold hard cash to third place.
After more than an hour without a player hitting the rail, Russia's Iaroslav Shmorgunov was eliminated from the tournament in 20th place for €2,430.
From late position, he jammed ace-queen and was called by Finland's Risto Hentunen in the big blind with pocket queens. The board ran out all blanks and Hentunen padded his stack in a big way from the now departed Russian.
Here is a look at the payouts for the remaining 20 players. Every player is guaranteed to cash for at least €2,430 and barring any deals the winner will walk away with the top prize of €62,000 in addition to the coveted trophy.
Lithuania's [Removed:174] opened from late position to 39,000 and got calls from Arto Ilmari Loikkanen in the small blind and Juha Helppi in the big blind.
All three players checked on the flop. Loikkanen checked again after then appeared on the turn before Helppi fired out for 46,000. Tamasauskas called and Loikkanen folded.
Helppi led out for 77,000 after the completed the board on the river. Tamasauskas went into the tank and was visibly uncomfortable. After a few minutes he eventually called and tossed his hand into the muck after Helppi turned over .
The day began with six Estonians in the field. However, the first four players were eliminated leaving just Mihkel Parn and Silver Nommik as the only local players remaining.
Parn and Nommik both have a potential Cinderella story in the making if they can win the event for €62,000 or one of the top prizes as both players qualified into the event online at OlyBet for just €22.
Finland's Arto Ilmari Loikkanen led the way at the first break with 793,000 followed by Lithuania's [Removed:174] who was on the final table of this event last year with 725,000.
Here is a look at all of the chip counts at the break:
