Olivares Doubles to Take the Chip Lead

Just before the break, a monster pot developed when Leonardo Olivares raised to 53,000 from the cutoff and was called by Javier Venegas in the big blind, leading to the {6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop. A series of raises and reraises resulted in Olivares being all in, and his {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} was way out in front against the {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} of Venegas.

Neither the {Q-Clubs} turn nor {3-Clubs} river changed a thing, and Olivares doubled to over 1.8 million!

Waldermar Barrientos Eliminated in 12th Place ($6,780)

Waldermar Barrientos - 12th place
Waldermar Barrientos - 12th place

Waldermar Barrientos opened for 50,000 from the hijack and found one called in the form of Halysson Sala in the big blind. The latter checked the {10-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop, allowing Barrientos to fire out 65,000, leaving himself just 198,000 behind. Sala wasted little time in moving all in, prompting Barrientos to remove his headphones and sungalsses.

Barrientos, who finished as the Day 1a chip leader, stared up at the ceiling quite some time and seemed almost tortured by the decision. It looked like he was going to fold, only to stop himself. After a couple of minutes, he made the call and revealed {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. Sala then rolled over {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for tens.

Barrientos was clearly disappointed and received no help on the {A-Hearts} turn and {9-Clubs} river. With that, we're down to 11 players.

William Espinosa Eliminated in 13th Place ($5,900)

Action folded to William Espinosa in the hijack and he opened for 60,000. Javier Venegas was on the button and decided to put in a reraise, which inspired Espinosa to ship his stack of around 250K. Venegas made the call to put Espinosa at risk.

Showdown

Venegas{J-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Espinosa{A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}

The {8-Spades}{K-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} flop gave Espinosa a gut-shot straight draw, meaning an ace or queen would give him the lead. The {3-Clubs} turn wasn't either one of them, and neither was the {4-Spades} river. Espinosa was eliminated in 13th place, meaning just four more eliminations are needed before we reach our final table.

Velasquez Doubles Through Espinosa

On a board reading {10-Spades}{2-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{A-Spades}, William Espinosa checked to Felipe Velasquez, who bet 256,000. Espinosa then moved all in and Velasquez called off for 352,000 total.

Showdown

Velasquez{A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}
Espinosa{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

Velasquez was way ahead and ended up ahead when the {A-Diamonds} fell on the river. He doubled to over 800K while Espinosa was left with just 260K.
