Nicholas Batt opened for 21,000 from early position and cleared the field all the way around to Rodrigo Perez in the small blind. He thought for a moment before moving all in for 360,000. The big blind got out of the way and Batt made the call.
Showdown
Batt
Perez
Batt was a big favorite even after the flop gave Perez a pair. The turn put an end to any sweat as Perez was left drawing dead, and after the was put out on the river for good measure, he made his exit from the tournament floor in 31st place.
Unfortunately we didn't catch the hand as it happened at the same time as Sebastian Rios' double, but we can confirm that Hector Marambio became the first elimination of the day.
Sebastian Rios has showed up and just in the nick of time as he moved all in from early position for his last 57,000. Luis Montano made the call from the cutoff, and then Rene Manzano moved all in over the top from the small blind. Montano got out of the way and the cards were turned up.
Showdown
Manzano
Rios
The flop gave both players a pair, but Rios was still way out in front. The turn changed nothing, and neither did the river. With that, Rios received a much-needed double.
To end Day 2 of LAPT Chile, Ryan O'Donnell was the last player eliminated in 33rd place. He talks to Kristy about his plans to play the High Roller event.
Action folded to Hector Marambio in the hijack and he opened the action for 35,000, which Pedro Frankel called from the cutoff. Marambio proceeded to check-call a bet of 45,000 on the flop before both players checked down the turn and river.
Frankel rolled over for a river set, which was good as Marambio simply mucked.
Last year, the LAPT Chile set a record as the largest event in LAPT history. That record was later surpassed in Colombia, while this year's event in Vina del Mar attracted even more participants than in 2011. Poker is clearly popular in the coastal country, but perhaps no one has been more successful than our chip leader Daniela Horno.
Last year she made a deep run in the Main, notching a sixth-place finish. Now, Horno is doing the improbable by making yet another deep run. With the biggest stack in the room, the last woman standing is primed to make back-to-back final tables and solidify her reputation as the Chilean "Poker Princess."
Day 3 is underway, though not all of the 32 players are here. Short-stacked Sebastian Rios has yet to make an appearance. With the blinds and antes so high, his absence could very well lead to his elimination. Speaking of the blinds, they're about to go up as the day kicked off with just four minutes remaining in Level 18.
Welcome to Day 3 of the 2012 PokerStars.net LAPT Chile. After three days (with two Day 1 flights), the starting field of 651 players is down to just 32, each with his and her eyes set on navigating to the final table of eight. At the top of the pack is Daniela Horno with 767,000, last year's sixth-place finisher in this every event. She spent much of Day 2 in the middle of the pack, but a late surge propelled her to the the chip lead during final level of Day 2.
Play is scheduled to continue at noon local time, about 45 minutes from now, and will commence until the final table of eight players is reached.
