Yesterday, Vanessa Selbst took down the 2010 NAPT Mohegan Sun Main Event and you can read all about that here and here. Today, the ante has been upped a tad and the High Roller Bounty Shootout will take place. A whopping $25,000 is required to buy into this event and you can bet your last dollar that the field will be filled with big names and big players.

Ashton Griffin took down the NAPT Venetian High Roller Bounty Shootout back in February (see here) and he'll be in the mix today looking for back-to-back titles.

Plenty of Team PokerStars Pros will be in the mix today along with a bunch of players that won their seat last night in a live satellite. PokerStars guaranteed 10 seats to the High Roller satellite for a buy-in of $5,000. Needing to get 50 players in the satellite to reach the guarantee, only 33 showed up creating an overlay of $85,000. Instead of needing to be one out of five to win a seat, you only had to be one out of three and a third, making for some sick value in the satellite.

Play is set to begin shortly at 12:00 p.m. The format will be the same as it was back at Venetian. Each bounty is worth $5,000 and you must win your table to advance to the final table. Be sure to keep your browser posted right here for all the live coverage!

Drawing Seats

The players are drawing seats for the tournament and we'll have the table and seat order for you soon. They announced that 34 players were signed up to play the event and there would be four tables of six and two tables of five. Now, there has been one late registrant of unknown identity to make it 35 entrants for five tables of six and one of five.

Man Down!

Vazquez earns the first $5,000 bounty
Vazquez earns the first $5,000 bounty
We've just witnessed the first elimination of the event and it came only a couple minutes into play. Luis Vazquez was all in preflop with NAPT Venetian winner Tom Marchese. Marchese had the slighter smaller stack and was the player at risk. He held {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} against Vazquez's {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}.

After a board of {10-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{J-Spades}{3-Hearts}, Marchese tossed his $5,000 chip over to Vazquez and exited the tournament.

Vazquez is a local player from Massachhussetts who recently took down the Foxwoods Poker Classic $3,300 Main Event for just under $145,000. He won his seat to this event via the live satellite held last night.

Goodbye Chau

Chau Giang moved all in for his last 1,875 from the cutoff seat before Pat Pezzin reraised to 5,200 from the button. Everyone folded and it was Giang versus Pezzin.

Giang held the {A-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and Pezzin the {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}. After the board ran out {K-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}, Giang sent over his bounty chip and exited the tournament.

Stein Still Runnin' Good

Sam Stein
Sam Stein
Sam Stein finished as the funner up at the NAPT Venetian Main Event. Some may say he ran really, really well to get that far and if that's true, it seems as though he's still running good.

On a flop of {Q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, Stein checked to Brian Powell who fired 2,900. Stein check-raised to 7,150 and Powell tank-called.

The turn brought the {2-Hearts} and Stein moved all in for 11,975. Powell quickly made the call and tabled two red aces. Stein held the {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} for top pair of kings. Powell's aces were in the lead and he also had the flush draw to go with it.

After a long pause for the cameras to grab all the action, the river card was dealt. The {K-Diamonds} smacked the felt on the river and boom! Just like that Stein won the hand and doubled up. Powell was left with just about 5,000 chips.

Negreanu Cuts Out Forum Use

Daniel Negreanu just discussed about how he hasn't been to any forums in the past two weeks. "I banned myself from any forum," he said. "My therapist told me to do so."

He went on to talk about how it affects his mind and emotional state to get all worked up with the jibber-jabber on the forums and has since stopped going to them.
