Not Sternberg's Orbit

Alan Sternberg's been steadily building today, but his last few hands didn't continue the upward trend. He raised to 53,000 from early position but was forced to give it up when Elio Fox moved all in.

Two hand later, Peter Jetten made it 55,000 from the cutoff, and Sternberg defended his big blind. Both players checked the {K-Clubs} {10-Spades} {6-Diamonds} flop, and Sternberg again checked the {10-Hearts} on the turn. Jetten bet 75,000, and Alan raised to 175,000. Jetten called to see the {A-Spades} on the river. Sternberg tried another bullet, betting 225,000. Jetten made the call, and Sternberg just mucked. "Nice hand," he said, as Jetten tabled {10-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} for trips. Sternberg fell to 2.5 million while Jetten is up to 1.55 million.

Scott Seiver Doubles Through Jordan Morgan

Scott Seiver is Gunning4you
Scott Seiver is Gunning4you
Scott Seiver limped in the cutoff, Mike Beasley called on the button, Jordan Morgan completed his small blind, and Derek Raymond checked his option.

The flop came down {9-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{7-Spades} and Morgan bet 85,000. Raymond folded and Seiver raised to 260,000. Beasley got out of the way and Morgan went all in. Seiver called all in for another 718,000.

Seiver: {6-Spades}{5-Spades}
Morgan: {10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}

It was over on the turn when the {4-Spades} fell, making a flush for Seiver. The {K-Diamonds} river was merely a formality and Seiver is up to just more than 2,000,000. Morgan drops to about 850,000.

Selbst Floats Flop, Gets There On Turn and River

Action folded to Andrew Ferguson in the small blind and he raised to 48,000. Vanessa Selbst called in the big blind and the two took a flop of {K-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{4-Spades}. Ferguson continuation bet 80,000 and Selbst called.

The turn brought the {3-Hearts} and Ferguson checked. Selbst fired 145,000 and Ferguson called after a few minutes in the tank.

The river was the {Q-Spades} and Selbst fired 270,000 after Ferguson checked again. After another couple minutes, Ferguson made the call.

Selbst tabled the {Q-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for two pair on the turn and river and Ferguson mucked. She's now got about 3.9 million while Ferguson dropped down to 320,000.

Jordan Morgan Eliminated in 16th Place ($23,000)

Jordan Morgan - 16th Place
Jordan Morgan - 16th Place
Wow. That's it for Jordan Morgan. In the space of two hands he's been eliminated from the tournament.

On the very next hand following Morgan's draw-versus-draw encounter with Scott Seiver, Seiver opened the pot for 50,000. Action passed to Morgan on the button. He announced all in for 840,000. Derek Raymond re-raised all in from the small blind to isolate. Once everyone else folded, the players went to showdown.

Morgan: {5-Clubs} {5-Spades}
Raymond: {A-Spades} {K-Diamonds}

Raymond paired kings on the flop, {J-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {K-Hearts}, then caught an ace on the turn {A-Clubs}. The left Morgan looking for a red five on the river to stave off elimination. It didn't come. The river {10-Hearts} ended Morgan's day.

"What a stupid game this is," Seiver said after Morgan departed. Jonathan Aguiar immediately picked up on Seiver's meaning.

"RICH! Poor," he said, drawing a laugh from the table.

Sternberg Cruising

In middle position, Alan Sternberg raised to 53,000 and was called by Vanessa Selbst on the button and Peter Jetten in the big blind.

The flop came down {2-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{J-Hearts} and Jetten checked. Sternberg bet 65,000 and Selbst folded. Jetten called and the {Q-Spades} followed on the turn. Jetten checked and Sternberg bet 110,000. Jetten called once again and the {2-Spades} hit the river. For a third time, Jetten checked and Sternberg fired. This time it was 525,000.

Jetten called and Sternberg tabled {A-Spades}{9-Spades} for an ace-high flush. Jetten mucked his hand and exposed the {10-Spades}, dropping to 780,000. Sternberg may in fact be chip leading now, up to about 3.25 million.

Aguiar Takes One

Finally a pot gets shipped Jonathan Aguiar's way. He raised to 59,000 pre. Brandon Hall called on the button, and Mike Beasley joined them from the big blind. All three checked the {9-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} flop. Check, check, check again on the {9-Hearts} turn, and ditto on the {2-Hearts} river. Aguiar showed {7-Clubs} {7-Spades}, good enough to take down the pot.

"If you'd hit your seven on the turn, we were going to have some fireworks," Beasley said.

"No we weren't," Aguair responded.

"So condescending," Scott Seiver threw his two cents in.

"This guy doesn't know who I am," laughed Aguiar. "I'd only have third set there."

Elio Fox Eliminated in 15th Place ($23,000)

Elio Fox - 15th Place
Elio Fox - 15th Place
Elio Fox raised to 55,000 from middle position and action folded over to Vanessa Rousso in the cutoff seat. She flatted and then Michael Woods came along for the ride as well from the big blind.

After a flop of {6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}, Woods checked to the preflop aggressor Fox. He fired 100,000 and then action moved to Rousso. The Team PokerStars Pro elected to increase the price of play and moved all in for roughly 500,000. After Woods quickly folded, it didn't take long for Fox to make the call, committing himself on the hand.

Fox tabled the {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs} and was up against Rousso's {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. The turn was the {8-Clubs} and missed Rousso one over to the jacks and flush draw. The river landed with the {3-Diamonds} though and that's exactly what Rousso was looking for. She made her flush and eliminated Fox on the hand, moving up to 1.1 million in the process.

Aguiar Doubles through Seiver

There are lots of chips flying around at the front table. Scott Seiver just sent 837,000 to Jonathan Aguiar. Seiver opened for 50,000, then raised all in after Aguiar three-bet the button to 140,000. Aguiar called and the cards were on their backs.

Seiver: {A-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}
Aguiar: {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}

The board rolled out uneventfully, {4-Hearts} {7-Spades} {2-Clubs} {8-Spades} {9-Clubs}. Aguiar doubled to 1.7 million while Seiver dropped to 1.3 million.

"And so it goes," sighed Seiver.
