Medic Completes Double Chip Transplant

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Nenad Medic
Nenad Medic

Christopher Kirkwood raised to 4,500 from the button, and Nenad Medic three-bet shoved for his full stack of 106,000 from the big blind. Kirkwood made the call with {A-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} and the covering stack, and he was flipping for the knockout against the {8-Spades} {8-Clubs} of his opponent.

Medic's pair ran faster on the {Q-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} board, and he's doubled up to 219,000 with that flip of the coin.

Kirkwood is down to 135,000 now.

Ramdin Crippled, Tripled

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Victor Ramdin
Victor Ramdin

Adam Geyer made it 14,000 to go from the hijack seat, and Victor Ramdin three-bet shoved from the cutoff. In the big blind, Gerald Aiello looked down at {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades}, and that was good enough for him to call all in for his last 54,500 chips. Geyer folded without incident, and Ramdin tabled {A-Hearts} {10-Clubs} with almost his own full stack at risk.

The board ran {J-Clubs} {7-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {J-Hearts}, and Aiello's full house doubles him up. Ramdin was left with just 8,000 lonely chips.

On the next hand, Ramdin shoved in for 7,500 with {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}, and he was called by both Ara Melikian and Andrew Weisner, The two men checked it all the way down on a {5-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {5-Spades} {5-Hearts}, and nobody could beat Ramdin's kickers, allowing him to triple up and stick around with nearly 30,000 chips once again.

"Nice Try," Tryba Says

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Chris Tryba
Chris Tryba

"Tell them I'm on tilt!" Joe Tehan told us a few minutes ago. He was joking around after a small pot in which he made a wrong call against Chris Tryba. A moment later, we picked up the action as they mixed it up in another pot.

Tryba opened to 15,000 from middle position, and he called a three-bet to 45,500 from Tehan in the small blind. Heads-up, the two men took a {K-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} flop, and Tehan continued out with 42,000 more chips. Tryba took a minute to consider, frowned, said, "Nice try," with a smirk, and sent his cards into the muck.

Tehan flashed his two jacks as the dealer pushed him the pot to boost his stack to about 390,000.

Tryba has about 210,000 left.

O'Dwyer O'Dominating

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

From the hijack seat, Steve O'Dwyer made his opening raise to 14,500, and Aaron Mermelstein three-bet to 36,500 right next door. O'Dwyer called, and the two men took a {J-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {2-Spades} flop. When O'Dwyer checked, Mermelstein continued out with a bet of 50,000 straight. O'Dwyer called that bet, and he called another 125,000 after the {4-Hearts} turn. On the river, the {9-Spades} drew checks from both players.

O'Dwyer was first to show, and his {A-Spades} {J-Diamonds} was good enough for the pot. It pushes him all the way up to 670,000, and O'Dwyer certainly must be happy to have six times as many chips in front of him now as at the day's beginning. He and Jacobo Fernandez are the day's biggest movers.

Sweeney Sent Off

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Ara Melikian
Ara Melikian

Ara Melikian opened to 13,500 from early position, and the table folded all the way around to the blinds. In the big, Joe Sweeney put his last ~35,000 chips into the middle, and Melikian quickly called with {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts}. "How bad is it," he asked Sweeney. The two men have become friendly, and Sweeney tabled his inferior {Q-Hearts} {10-Hearts}. "Oooh, I got your hearts, too," Melikian astutely noted.

The {2-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {10-Clubs} flop brought those hearts into play, but it was Sweeney with the leading pair of tens now. The turn {8-Clubs} was a blank, but the river {A-Spades} gave Melikian the pot and the knockout with top pair.

Sweeney is out with 38 players left.

Waiting On a Call From the Medic

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

In the cutoff seat, Joe Tehan raised it up to 13,500, and Christopher Kirkwood called on the button. Nenad Medic came along from the small blind, too, and it was three-handed to the flop.

It came {4-Hearts} {6-Spades} {8-Hearts}, and Medic took his pause. He eventually stacked up a bet of 28,000 and slid it forward, enough to quickly fold Tehan out of the way. Kirkwood, however, announced an all-in raise that covered his opponent. Medic had about 185,000 left in front of him, and he watched Kirkwood put the call into the pot with hands trembling as Medic eyed up his remaining stack. After several long minutes of soak time in the tank, Medic open-mucked his {10-Diamonds} {10-Spades}, and Kirkwood takes it down.

Markholt Finished Off and Selbst Makin' Moves

Lee Markholt eliminated
Lee Markholt eliminated

Dan Shak raised to 17,000 from the hijack seat fresh off his double through Lee Markholt. Markholt called all in from the cutoff seat for 1,000 and then action folded to Jean-Philippe Matte. He reraised from the small blind to 55,000.

Vanessa Selbst was in the big blind and studied for a bit before reraising to 100,000 even. She has 235,000 behind after he cold four-bet. Shak folded and then Matte folded after a minute. Selbst tabled the {J-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Markholt the {J-Hearts}{8-Spades}.

The board ran out {9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and Selbst spiked a deuce to send Markholt out the door.
