Must Show to Win

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

With the flop of {Q-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Spades} in the middle, Nikolay Evdakov fired 1,300 after his opponent checked to him. The player made the call and the turn brought the {J-Clubs}. Both players checked. The river was the {A-Diamonds} and both checked again.

"Seven high," said Evdakov's opponent before tossing his hand into the muck without showing. Evdakov didn't show either and started raking the pot, but the table insisted that the winning hand must be shown. A similar situation happened earlier with Ali Eslami. The dealer grabbed the cards and turned them up to reveal the {K-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, even though Evdakov didn't think they should be shown.

Mattern Gets Check-Raisey

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante

First in from the cutoff seat, a gentleman we don't recognize opened to 700. Nikolay Evdakov called from the small blind before Arnaud Mattern stuck in a three-bet to 2,750 from the big. The initial raiser immediately clicked it back to 5,050, Evdakov ducked out, Mattern flatted, and it was heads up to the flop.

The dealer spread out {Q-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}, and Mattern knocked the table. His opponent fired out 6,000 only to see Mattern stack out a check-raise to 13,850 and slide it forward. That coaxed a fold finally, and Mattern has grabbed the last pot of the level to boost his stack to about 71,000.

Penalty for Young After Dolan Cracks His Pocket Rockets

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante
Jason Young
Jason Young

We caught the action while the hand was already in progress. From what we could piece together, Jason Young and former November Niner John Dolan had a few raises preflop which resulted in Dolan putting in a third of his chips. When the flop came down {3-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Spades}, someone bet 5,500, the other shoved, and all the money ended up in the pot. Dolan was the one at risk for his last 15,725.

Dolan: {5-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Young: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}

Young couldn't believe that not only had Dolan called off a third of his chips preflop with a mediocre hand, but that he somehow managed to flop the nuts. The {6-Clubs} turn and {K-Diamonds} river changed nothing and Dolan doubled to 43,000 while Young was left with just 16,000. Clearly upset, Young vented to anyone who would listen, uttering the prohibited F-word in the process. To add insult to injury, the dealer called the floor and Young was issued a one-hand penalty. As fate would have it, he was in the small blind so the previous hand actually cost him some more chips.

Negreanu has Kicker Problems

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu raised to 700 from the hijack only to have the small blind raise it to 1,900. Negreanu called and it was heads up to the {Q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop. The small blind led out for 2,000, Negreanu called, and the dealer burned and turned the {Q-Diamonds}.

Both players checked to the {3-Diamonds} river. The small blind checked, Negreanu bet 3,100, and the small blind called:

Negreanu: {4-Spades}{5-Spades}
Small Blind: {A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

Negreanu had kicker problems and lost the pot, dropping to 43,500 in the process.

#WINNING $300

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante

Kathy Liebert has been in rare form here today. She's been the life of the party at her own table, and she's been frequently spotted bouncing out of her chair to go spy on some of the pros around the room. Most recently, she stopped off at the table of Daniel Negreanu (a vegan) and offered to buy him a cheeseburger.

Well, you won't be hearing a peep out of Liebert for the next half hour. She has just accepted an even-money bet for $300 that stipulates she won't say a word for the rest of the level. Liebert can say, "Bet," "Fold," "Raise," "Call," and use numbers for her bet amounts. That's all. Liebert's strategy for getting through this half hour with her mouth closed? A steady intake of Sour Patch Kids.

We must say, things have gotten awfully boring over there at Table 5 with Liebert's silence. At least there's Twitter.

Kim Climbing Back

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante

After a player limped in, Albert Kim attacked with a raise to 1,000. The limper was the only caller and the flop came down paired with the {A-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. The limp-caller checked and Kim opted to just check behind.

The turn brought the {5-Spades} and possibly completed a few draws that were present. The first player bet 1,000 and Kim raised to 2,500. His opponent folded and Kim won the pot.

Kim got back to 15,000, but that's still only half of what he started the day with.

I Think I Can Sum Up His Chip Stack In One Word: Nothing

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante
Jason Alexander - out
Jason Alexander - out

We walked up to Jason Alexander's table just after the firefight had taken place. There was 5,050 in the pot, Alexander had 8,000 chips in front of him, and Bruce Antman had the all-in button out in front of him. We're not sure whether the money went in preflop or on the flop, but either way it was bad news for Alexander as he showed up {10-Spades} {10-Hearts} against Antman's {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}.

The board ran out {7-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {A-Hearts}, and the queens hold for Antman. The stacks were close so they had to be broken down, and it took several minutes to verify that Alexander had been eliminated. "Can I go home now?" he asked. The dealer dismissed him, and "George" walked out the double doors and out of The Bike.

Antman now appears to be the chip leader with about 83,000 in front of him.
