Farha Falls; Greenstein Advances

Alert the media... I'm playing the Sweet 16
Alert the media... I'm playing the Sweet 16
Sammy Farha moved all in on a flop of {4-Hearts}{q-Spades}{2-Clubs} and got a quick call from Barry Greenstein.

Farha turned up {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds} for top pair while Greenstein showed {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}. Each player ended up with two pair as the board ran out {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}, but Greenstein's bullets out-gunned Farha's ladies, giving him an entry to the Sweet 16.

Elezra Ends Quiet Match With Flip Victory

Eli Elezra
Eli Elezra
There wasn't much to be heard from Allen Cunningham and Eli Elezra's match on the far side of the room. In their final hand, Cunningham open-raised the button, then called all in after Elezra shoved. Elezra showed a pair of sixes, {6-Spades} {6-Clubs} against Cunningham's {A-Diamonds} {10-Spades}. The two men stood from the table and shook hands before the board cards came down.

This race ended in Elezra's favor, {8-Clubs} {5-Spades} {K-Spades} {J-Hearts} {K-Hearts}. He moves on the Sweet 16 and the money. Cunningham's tournament is over.

Three Matches Left

We're on the very edge of the bubble now, with just three matches remaining in the Round of 32. Barry Greenstein and Sam Farha are going back and forth on the feature table, while Gus Hansen and Paul Wasicka are playing a stalemate at the back of the room.

On the far side of the room, Eli Elezra and Allen Cunningham look to be playing small ball. From here it's hard to tell who has the edge in the match.

Greenstein Doubles on the River

Barry Greenstein moved all in on a flop of {K-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and got called by Sammy Farha.

Greenstein tabled {A-Spades}{J-Hearts} for nothing more than over cards while Farha showed {7-Spades}{9-Spades} for second pair. The {6-Diamonds} on the turn gave Farha a straight draw, but Greenstein caught the {J-Spades} on the river to win the hand and double up.

Greenstein Can't Close Out Farha

Sam Farha
Sam Farha
Barry Greenstein had the chip lead in his match against Sammy Farha. The two players got all the chips in the middle on a board of {Q-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds}. Greenstein, supported on the rail by his son Nathan and a light-brown-haired Asian woman, tabled the nut flush draw, {A-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}. Farha came up with a set of treys, {3-Spades} {3-Clubs}. Greenstein improved to a pair of aces with the {A-Hearts} turn but blanked the {4-Spades} river.

Farha doubles up and their match -- now on the feature table with the departure of Annette Obrestad and Phil Hellmuth -- continues.

Duke Over Moon

Annie Duke
Annie Duke
While Phil Hellmuth was taking five minutes to tank against Annette Obrestad, Jen Harman and Darvin Moon were also all in. Harman's hand was near our media desk and we were able to see it play out.

Duke's hand, however, was on the far side of the room. None of the details were announced other than the fact that Duke eliminated Moon to advance to the Sweet 16.

Harman Finally Succumbs

Jerry Yang advances
Jerry Yang advances
Jen Harman took a big hit to her chip stack early in the match against Jerry Yang. Down to just 6,600, she moved all in pre-flop with {Q-Hearts} {8-Clubs}. Yang called with {Q-Clubs} {10-Clubs} and closed out the match by pairing tens on a board of {K-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {3-Clubs} {J-Spades} {10-Hearts}.

Harman had a few words for one of Yang's supporters on the rail as she was departing the set. That person had jumped off of the rail earlier when Yang won a huge pot in the match, shouting that he knew exactly what Yang had in his hand.

When Harman expressed her displeasure with the supporter's behavior, he told Harman that he wasn't trying to be disrespectful to her. But Harman pressed her point, to which Yang's supporter replied, "I don't care what you have to say."

Harman then said something inaudible before departing the set. Yang's supporter shouted at her back, "No, you f*** off."

Hellmuth Tanks; Gets Eliminated

Phil couldn't beat anything but a pure bluff
Phil couldn't beat anything but a pure bluff
Phil Hellmuth went into the tank for more than five minutes after Annette Oberstad either bet or raised (we're not really sure) on a board of {Q-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}.

Hellmuth announced that he "Can't beat anything but a pure bluff," but refused to muck his hand. After being put on the clock by the producers, Hellmuth finally called and was eliminated after Annette showed pocket jacks for a straight. Hellmuth's flashed a nine in the hole for a pair of nines, not nearly enough to beat Obrestad's straight.

Obrestad moves on to the Sweet 16.

Ferguson Can't Straighten Out

An ITM Phillips is all smiles.
An ITM Phillips is all smiles.
We've lost one of our previous NBC Heads-Up champions. Chris Ferguson got his shot stack in on the turn of a board that developed {A-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}. Dennis Phillips made the call with {K-Spades} {K-Clubs}; he had to fade Ferguson's up-and-down straight draw with {8-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}. He did when the river paired the board a harmless {9-Diamonds}.

Ferguson smiled, shook Phillips' hand, and departed the set for good. Phillips will be back later for a Sweet 16 match.

Dapper Don Whacked by the Godfather

Cheadle all dressed up with no place to go
Cheadle all dressed up with no place to go
We have our first victim in the Hearts-Diamonds bracket. On a flop of {9-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}, a very classily dressed Don Cheadle got his chips in the middle as the short stack against Doyle Brunson. Cheadle had a flush draw, {5-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds}; Brunson had top pair with {A-Spades} {10-Spades}. Cheadle never improved, allowing Brunson to close out the match and advance to the Sweet 16.
