Duke Over Moon

Annie Duke
Annie Duke
While Phil Hellmuth was taking five minutes to tank against Annette Obrestad, Jen Harman and Darvin Moon were also all in. Harman's hand was near our media desk and we were able to see it play out.

Duke's hand, however, was on the far side of the room. None of the details were announced other than the fact that Duke eliminated Moon to advance to the Sweet 16.

Greenstein Can't Close Out Farha

Sam Farha
Sam Farha
Barry Greenstein had the chip lead in his match against Sammy Farha. The two players got all the chips in the middle on a board of {Q-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds}. Greenstein, supported on the rail by his son Nathan and a light-brown-haired Asian woman, tabled the nut flush draw, {A-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}. Farha came up with a set of treys, {3-Spades} {3-Clubs}. Greenstein improved to a pair of aces with the {A-Hearts} turn but blanked the {4-Spades} river.

Farha doubles up and their match -- now on the feature table with the departure of Annette Obrestad and Phil Hellmuth -- continues.

Greenstein Doubles on the River

Barry Greenstein moved all in on a flop of {K-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and got called by Sammy Farha.

Greenstein tabled {A-Spades}{J-Hearts} for nothing more than over cards while Farha showed {7-Spades}{9-Spades} for second pair. The {6-Diamonds} on the turn gave Farha a straight draw, but Greenstein caught the {J-Spades} on the river to win the hand and double up.

Three Matches Left

We're on the very edge of the bubble now, with just three matches remaining in the Round of 32. Barry Greenstein and Sam Farha are going back and forth on the feature table, while Gus Hansen and Paul Wasicka are playing a stalemate at the back of the room.

On the far side of the room, Eli Elezra and Allen Cunningham look to be playing small ball. From here it's hard to tell who has the edge in the match.

Elezra Ends Quiet Match With Flip Victory

Eli Elezra
Eli Elezra
There wasn't much to be heard from Allen Cunningham and Eli Elezra's match on the far side of the room. In their final hand, Cunningham open-raised the button, then called all in after Elezra shoved. Elezra showed a pair of sixes, {6-Spades} {6-Clubs} against Cunningham's {A-Diamonds} {10-Spades}. The two men stood from the table and shook hands before the board cards came down.

This race ended in Elezra's favor, {8-Clubs} {5-Spades} {K-Spades} {J-Hearts} {K-Hearts}. He moves on the Sweet 16 and the money. Cunningham's tournament is over.

Farha Falls; Greenstein Advances

Alert the media... I'm playing the Sweet 16
Alert the media... I'm playing the Sweet 16
Sammy Farha moved all in on a flop of {4-Hearts}{q-Spades}{2-Clubs} and got a quick call from Barry Greenstein.

Farha turned up {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds} for top pair while Greenstein showed {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}. Each player ended up with two pair as the board ran out {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}, but Greenstein's bullets out-gunned Farha's ladies, giving him an entry to the Sweet 16.

Wasicka the Last into the Money

Paul Wasicka
Paul Wasicka
No sooner than Barry Greenstein had eliminated Sammy Farha then Paul Wasicka and Gus Hansen were all in pre-flop on the last remaining table. Wasicka had the lead in the match and in the hand, tabling {A-Clubs} {9-Clubs} against Hansen's {K-Hearts} {7-Spades}.

Wasicka made top pair on the flop, {9-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {5-Diamonds}, but Hansen had one over-card and an inside straight draw. He improved that draw to an up-and-down straight draw with the {10-Diamonds} turn. The river {7-Diamonds} made a pair of sevens for Hansen but that was not enough to avoid elimination. He's out.

The Round of 32 has now concluded. Wasicka is the sole remaining former NBC champion in the field.

Cards Are Flying

The dinner break is over and players in the Spades and Clubs bracket have returned for the start of the Sweet 16.

Gabe Kaplan and Scotty Nguyen are at the feature table, while the outer tables host these match-ups:

Jason Mercier vs. Phil Laak
Peter Eastgate vs. Jamie Gold
Chris Moneymaker vs. Erik Seidel

What's Scotty Drinking?

It's not unusual to Scotty Nguyen down a beer - or three - on national TV, so the fact that he has a couple of bottles on the side table next to him should come as no surprise.

What is surprising, though, is that Scotty appears to be pacing himself more than usual by drinking what, from our vantage point, appear to be O'Doul's "near beers".

We can only wait and see what effect the change has on his play.
