Gao Gets Li in Longest Hand

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

If there was a record for the longest time to a play a hand of cards, this one would be close. We arrived after the hand had started, with 10-minutes on the tournament clock before the break and by the time the hand had finished and the chips been stacked it had eaten into four minutes of break time as well.

There was close to 7,000 in bets, blinds and antes in the pot and three players were in action on a flop of {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{3-Clubs}. It was Qinrong Gao sitting UTG+2 who was first to act, and he checked over to Shaoming Li, who fired for 3,000. That was enough to get Australia's Phachara Wongwichit to bow out, and the action was back on Gao, who slid in the call.

Gao checked again on the {j-Spades} turn and Li fired again, throwing out a single blue 5k chip. This is where time slowed and Gao tanked for an ice age before declaring he was all-in to send Li deep into the think tank, where he remained for close to five minutes.

Eventually, Li called and discovered the bad news, his {k-Spades}{k-Hearts} had been bested by the {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades} of Gao, who had flopped the boat. There was no king on the river and the field was reduced by one, while Gao stacked up to 70,000.

Lucky Double For Luo

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Xixiang Luo just had a stroke of luck to double up and survive.

After a 1,100 open and call, Luo looked down at {a-Spades}{6-Hearts} in the small blind and shoved for 6,100. The original raiser folded, but the caller called and showed {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}. Luo was in bad shape, but the board ran {k-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{10-Hearts} to pair his six.

Luo's up to 13,800 now.

More For Zhelong

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

The last time we saw Jin Zhelong he was cracking pocket aces with his pocket kings. Now he's just made a very nice call to eliminate a player and chip up even further.

The board showed {2-Spades}{j-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and Zhelong had a bet of 1,800 in front of him. His opponent then shoved for 16,925, an d Zhelong spent a while in the tank before eventually making the call. His opponent showed {8-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for bottom pair and a busted flush draw, and Zhelong took it down with his [aacqs] for top pair to go with the on-board sixes.

Zhelong is up to 76,000 now.

Midway Leaders

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

With Level 6 looming, that means we're around the halfway point of the day. There are countless players with around 50,000 stacks, but only a handful have significantly more right now.

It's Carson Ka Shing Wong who appears to be chip leader right now with 87,000. He's followed by Le Peng Cheng with 80,000, and Lee Jeho with 73,000.

Luo Claws Some Back

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Xixiang Luo is clawing his way back towards a starting stack, having clearly suffered some setbacks in the opening levels.

With a {3-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{q-Diamonds} flop out there, two players checked to Luo and he bet 800. After a call, there was a raise to 2,000, which Luo then re-popped to 5,800. That got two folds, and moved Luo's stack up to 22,500.
