O'Kane OK

Lawrence O'Kane got involved threeway with a pot that threatened to become quite juicy - on the turn (board: {8-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {A-Hearts} ) O'Kane bet out from the small blind 1,200. Pascal Perrault in mid position made the call, as did the button.

The river brought another {A-Diamonds} . Now O'Kane checked. Perrault bet 1,200 now, and the button passed. O'Kane then raised to 4,200, and, grumbling about a straight, Perrault paid him off. He actually showed {A-Spades} {7-Hearts} for the house, while Perrault flipped {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades} , tapped the table and conceded the pot, even though the dealer initially tried to give it to him.

No Laak of Confidence

A hooded Phil Laak has been sat in the same seat, quietly accruing chips all day. Seemingly headed only upwards, he's now on over 40,000 and just busted James Browning adding a few more to the stacks.

Browning shoved preflop over Laak's initial raise, and he made the call (another 3,850) with {A-Spades} {10-Clubs} , finding it ahead of Browning's {Q-Spades} {9-Spades} . No help from the board and Laak shook the exiter's hand and commenced restacking.

Quads for Connelly

Rory Rees-Brennan got smacked in the face by the deck when he got his whole stack in with {A-Clubs} {A-Spades} against Dean Connelly's {Q-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}. Some perhaps ungentlemanly celebrations from Connelly as he proceeded to make quads and Rees-Brennan hit the rail.

Break Time

Players are taking a wee short break, possibly to enjoy the live jazz band that has appeared in the bar outside, or possibly to enjoy the bar that is currently home to a live jazz band.

The Daly Express

James Daly took the first train out of the tournament when he got the last of his chips in with {A-?} {J-?} against Vincent Melinn's pocket sevens. No help from the board, and it was the end of the line for Daly.

Renehan Gets it in the Tureniec

With over 10,000 in the pot by the river of the {J-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {8-Spades} {6-Hearts} {7-Hearts} board, Jaye Renehan in the cutoff bet 5,000, leaving himself perhaps 15,000 behind. A silent yet apparently deadly Michael Tureniec raised to 14,000, though, eliciting a fold. Tureniec rewarded the fold by showing him {6-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} for a full house.
