The player under the gun opened to 350 and was called by Matt Glantz in early position and David Paredes in the big blind.
The flop came down and Paredes checked to the UTG player who bet 650. Glantz folded, Paredes called, and the hit the turn. Another check from Paredes led to another bet from his opponent, this time for 1,100. Paredes called to see the river where it was more of the same as Paredes check-called 2,100.
His opponent tabled , sending Paredes' hand to the muck.
Gregory Fishberg raised to 325 from middle position, then David Hill reraised to 1,100 from a seat over. It folded back to Fishberg who quickly called the reraise, and the pair watched the board come . Fishberg checked, Hill bet 1,100, and Fishberg again didn't hesitate before calling.
The turn brought the and checks from both. Then when the fell on the river, Fishberg fired 1,600. Hill waited a beat, then called, and Fishberg instantly mucked his cards.
Hill then slid his cards face downward toward the dealer as the chips were slid his way, at which point Fishberg inquired whether or not Hill had to show. While that is the case in other venues, here the winner actually does not have to show when his or her opponent mucks beforehand.
After an early-position raise to 450, Brian Meek called on the button. Alan Kraut popped it to 1,500 from the small blind, chasing out the early-position raiser. Meek called to see a flop which both players checked.
The turn fell and Kraut checked. Meek bet 1,600, Kraut called, and the landed on the river. Kraut checked for a third time and Meek bet 2,000 this street. Kraut quickly called, but mucked when Meek tabled for a full house.
We've seen another knockout here in the early going, this time courtesy of Robert Wood.
The hand saw an early position raiser bet 350, then the player to his left reraising to 1500. It folded around to Wood who called, and the original raiser stepped aside.
The flop came , and the reraiser continued for 3,000. Wood called. The turn was the , prompting an all-in push from Wood's opponent for 7,300 and he again called. Wood's opponent showed while Wood had , and after the river another player was sent railward.
Wood is now sitting with about twice the starting stack of 30,000 as we move into Level 2.
Miguel Reyes limped in under the gun and action folded to Theo Tran on the button. He raised to 350 and was called by Jeffrey Spence in the big blind, as well as Reyes, and a flop fell.
Spence checked to Reyes who bet 400, chasing out neither opponent. The turn hit and Spence checked to Reyes again who bet 500. Tran called, but Spence popped it to 2,000. Reyes gave it some thought, but ultimately folded. Tran did the same and Spence took the pot.
Brian Meek and Edward Miller were just involved in a big first-level hand. With the board showing , Miller shoved his remaining chips and Meek was quickly there with the call.
Miller held for a flopped two pair, but Meek had turned the nuts with to send Miller to the rail. Meanwhile, Meek is now up over 60,000.
We have had one player felted thus far in the first level of play, as Dixit Patel just took all of Michael Ryan's chips to bump his stack up over 60,000. Patel is looking to bookend a successful DeepStack Extravaganza series, as he took down Event #1 ($400 NLHE) when things got underway here in Bethlehem last week.
Meanwhile, it appears Michael Ryan is probably going to be re-entering the event.
