Day 1b Started
Welcome to PokerNews' day 1b coverage of the 2012 Sands Bethlehem DeepStack Extravaganzana Main Event. Friday's Day 1a drew 70 entrants and after 10 levels of play, Chris Klodnicki led the remaining 25 players with 228,000.
We expect about 100 entrants to take to the felt today, including several players from Day 1a who came up short of making it to Day 1b. Among those we expect to see giving it another shot today include Matt Glantz, Cherish Andrews, Theo Tran, Dan Buzgon, and David Paredes. Craig Bergeron and Vinny Pahuja are expected among the new faces in the field.
Play is set to kickoff at noon local time, about 15 minutes from now. Be sure to keep it here throughout the day as we play 10 levels again to see who makes it through to Day 2.

Micah Raskin entered the tournament room a little bit late and was looking for his seat.
Well, he found it and picked up on his first hand. With the flop reading , Raskin and Charles Furey went back and forth in a raising war, culminating with Raskin all in and at risk. Unfortunately for him, Furey held .
The turn was no help to Raskin and the river improved Furey to a full house. Raskin went to re-enter and has just taken his new seat.

"So, when's the last time you played an event in this country?"
So asked Matt Glantz of Todd Terry just now. Glantz is back today to try again after having busted Day 1a. Meanwhile Terry has just made it to Bethlehem after having traveled all of the way from the Czech Republic where he cashed in the EPT Prague Main Event, finishing 54th for €15,000.
"Jacksonville, I think?" answered Terry, who then proceeded to tell Glantz about his EPT Prague ME run. "I was seventh to end Day 1, and seventh again to end Day 2," Terry explained. "But I had an awful Day 3," he went on, explaining how his run had ended in 54th. Still, a nice finish for Terry in a field of 864.
By the way, while Terry and Glantz are here trying to build stacks early in this event, the EPT Prague Main Event final table is playing out right now, with coverage here on PokerNews.

We came on a big hand brewing between Matt Glantz and Mike Linster just now. With a sizable pot already formed between them, the board read as Glantz was placing out a large bet, enough to put Linster all in. Linster instantly called and tabled for the nut flush, while Glantz was drawing dead with .
That hand left Glantz with less than 4,000, and soon those chips were at risk — again versus Linster — and Glantz didn't survive. He's over at the table arranging to re-enter now, while Linster is stacking up more than 60,000.

Jeffrey Laporta raised to 400 from early position and picked up four callers, including Dennis Dekker in the big blind. The flop came , and when Dekker led for 600, Laporta raised to 1,500, scattering the others. Dekker called the raise.
The turn brought the . This time Dekker checked, and Laporta kept pushing with a bet of 1,600. Dekker then responded with a quick check-raise to 4,000, and Laporta called. The fell on the river, and both players checked.
Dekker tabled for aces and sevens, while Laporta showed his and the chips were swept Dekker's way.

With the board showing , the action was on Robert Bowers. His opponent, Joseph Beahm, had just pushed all in for 22,100 total, and it appeared Bowers was confused about the size of the raise. He was putting out 2,100 chips initially, but when it was explained to him that Beahm was actually all in for much more, Bowers eventually carved out the needed chips to call.
Beahm quickly flipped over his , then Bowers earned a round of "ooohs" from the table when he turned over his for a flopped set.
"Oh boy, I need help," said a grinning Beahm.
The turn brought the , and Beahm began calling for a deuce. The dealer then burned a card and delivered the river… the !
That earned still more "ooohs" as Beahm's grin widened accordingly. Bowers took the bad beat in stride, although now must battle with a short stack.
