Laak Out-flops Schwartz Again

Phil Laak
Phil Laak
Luke Schwartz raised to 16,00 with two red queens., Phil Laak called from the small blind with the {K-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Giovanni Safina called from the big blind with the {8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}.

The flop came down {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{J-Diamonds} and everyone flopped something: Schwartz had two pair, Laak trips and Safina a flush draw. Action checked around to Schwartz. He bet 20,000 and both opponents called.

The turn was the {8-Hearts} and action check to Schwartz. He checked as well.

The river was the {J-Spades} and Laak checked. Safina checked and then Schwartz checked as well. Laak tabled the winning hand and Schwartz couldn't believe it. This hand was very reminiscent of the one from an earlier heat when Laak flopped a full house holding {K-?}{7-?} against Schwartz's pocket queens.

Ian Frazer Eliminated in 7th Place ($4,000)

Frazer gets frazzled
Frazer gets frazzled
Tony G limped from early position with the {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} and Ian Frazer picked up pocket fives in the small blind. He raised to 26,000 and then David Benyamine was next to act in the big blind with the {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. He called the raise and then Tony G came alomg to the flop as well.

The flop came down {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and Frazer was first up. He fired all in for 108,000. Benyamine had the best hand with a pair of sevens and was now faced with a decision. He made the call and Tony G folded.

Needing help on the turn or river, Frazer was loking at being the second person eliminated today.

The turn was the {2-Spades} and then the river the {J-Clubs}. Tony G would have made the best hand, but folded on the flop. Benyamine's hand held and Frazer was sent packing in seventh place with two points and $4,000 going with him. He now has 10 points total.

Frazer Can't Fire Third Barrel

On the flop of {4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}, Ian Frazer fired 22,000 holding the {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} into Vanessa Rousso. She held the {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}. Rousso tanked and then just flat-called.

The turn added the {2-Spades} and paired the board with ducks. Daniel Negreanu was on the commentary and thought Rousso should have raised the flop in order to prevent getting blown off the pot on the turn if Frazer wanted to fire a bet. Frazer did just that after the turn fell, firing 42,000 to try and pick up the pot. Rousso tanked and went over the situation in her head. Eventually, she made the call.

The river completed the board with the {9-Hearts} and Frazer gave up, checking to Rousso. She checked behind and then requested to see Frazer's hand with him being the last aggressor. Rousso saw what he had (eight high) and then tabled the winner. Frazer was left with only 134,000 chips.

Schwartz's Tens Vs. Laak's Kings

Laak always seems to get the better of Schwartz
Laak always seems to get the better of Schwartz
Phil Laak raised to 15,000 with the {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}. Luke Schwartz called from the big blind with the {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}, opting not to three-bet.

The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Schwartz checked. Laak checked behind.

The turn was the {6-Hearts} and Schwartz fired 18,000. Laak made the call.

The river was the {7-Hearts} and Schwartz fired 35,000. Laak made the call.

"If you have jacks, you're good," said Schwartz, but didn't turn his hand over.

Laak didn't turn his hand over as well and said, "I wanna see your hand Bubble Gum and then I'll show you the winning hand." Laak refers to Schwartz as "Bubble Gum" now for his new nickname.

Schwartz then turned up his tens and Laak tabled his kings.

"At least I didn't three-bet pre," said Schwartz, who might've saved a lot of money if he did so.

The G Turns His Gutshot

Tony G all smiles

Vanessa Rousso limped in from under the gun with the {A-Spades}{10-Spades} and Tony G limped behind her on the button with the {5-Clubs}{4-Spades}. Phil Laak was in the small blind and completed with the {K-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and Giovanni Safina checked in the big blind with the {Q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}.

The flop came down {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and Rousso picked up a pair of aces. Tony G flopped a gutshot straight draw and the other two flopped junk. Action checked to Rousso and she bet 16,000. Tony G semi-bluff-raised to 40,000 and the two blinds folded. Rousso made the call.

The turn was the {3-Hearts} and Rousso checked. Tony G hit his inside straight draw and fired 40,000. Instantly, Rousso folded her hand and got away from a pair of aces.

Rousso Trying to Build Back

Giovanni Safina min-raised from the cutoff with the {K-Hearts}{10-Spades} and Vanessa Rousso called on the button with the {Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}.

The flop came down {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}{8-Spades} with Rousso adding trips. Safina checked and Rousso bet 15,000. Safina folded and Rousso picked up the pot to add some chips to her stack. She's now on 241,000 and still one of the shorter stacks left.

Safina Continuing to Best Schwartz

Giovanni Safina raised to 18,000 with the {K-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. Luke Schwartz called with the {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs} from the big blind.

The flop came down {10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Safina took the lead. He's seemed to flop a pair or better in every hand he's played. Both players checked and the turn was the {Q-Spades}. Schwartz fired 6,000 and Safina double checked his hand. He made the call and then the river was the {9-Hearts}. Both checked again and Safina tabled a pair of fours for the winning hand.

Frazer Raising His Baby Ace

Ian Frazer raised to 16,000 with a baby ace, the {A-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and scooped in the pot preflop after everyone folded.

It's very interesting to see how the players are adjusting their strategies based on the other players and the points system. Just moments ago, Frazer folded a wired pair of fives to a preflop raise from Vanessa Rousso and here ws just seen opening a small ace.
