Fischbacher Reels One In

Christian Fischbacher, who went deep in yesterday's event, just made a brave, but ultimately justified call to eliminate an opponent.

On the river of a {7-Diamonds}

board, Fischbacher was faced with a 2,450 all-in, which, after much deliberation, he eventually called.

His defeated opponent shook his head as he turned over {A-Diamonds}

, thus allowing a jubilant Fischbacher to lap up the pot with {K-Clubs}

.

"Nice call," complimented the rest of the table, both impressed by and fearful of his play.

As a result, Fischbacher now has circa 7,500.

Hanging In There

Thierry Loqmane, the unfortunate gentleman who was crippled by Tony G in that A-K versus A-K cooler, was spotted shoving his shrapnel in on an {8-Clubs}

flop, eliciting a fold from his limped-in opponent and picking up the small pot. "I'm just trying my best to survive," he said wistfully, as the chipped-up Tony G returned from being interviewed by Pokernews' own lovely Gloria and took his seat again.

That interview should be up very shortly.

No Lack of Chips for Lackovic

A decent start for Nik Lackovic as he took a nice 2,500 pot out of the hands of youthful Dmitriy Golovin, betting 1,150 on the turn of a {3-Hearts}

board and forcing a fold from the youngster.

Lackovic is on a very respectable 5,500 or so.

Chop Chop

An early all-in confrontation between Stephanie Mayer-Stauffe and Anton Taxacher, which ended in a split pot.

Mayer-Stauffe was holding pocket aces for an overpair to the board and Taxacher was holding pocket threes for a set, but in the end the board read {6-?}

to give them both a straight. Everyone looked sort of irked.

A Bounty Beat

I've heard enough bad beat stories in my time to publish a book longer than War and Peace, but the last one may have been worth hearing.

With a €250 bounty hanging precariously over his head, Tony G found himself all in with {A-Clubs}

versus

, his opponent's only hope being a diamond encrusted board.

However, with the flop coming {A-Hearts}

, it was Tony G who was left free-rolling, the {6-Hearts}

turning what was a mere tease into a general threat.

On the {5-Hearts}

river, the table erupted, Tony G not only remaining bountiful, but with double his stack. Now on around the 8,000 mark, it looks as though the G-ster's scalp could prove more difficult to capture than first thought.
