Day 1a Completed
Joe Wilson Leads After Day 1a of the RunGood Poker Series All Stars Horseshoe Council Bluffs $575 Main Event
Day 1a of the 2021 RunGood Poker Series All Stars Horseshoe Council Bluffs was a standing-room only affair, as 277 entrants flooded the poker room in search of a Day 2 bag. After an extended day that saw a total of 13 30-minute levels be played, it was Joe Wilson that led the pack of 55 remaining players with 261,000 chips in the bag.
Wilson was a player that spun a stack up late, besting the likes of Senior's Champ Marvin Schumer (220,000), who rallied back from a single 1k chip in the late stages to bag the second-largest stack. Schumer's day went from awful to wonderful by the end, as he told PokerNews that he picked up aces, kings, and finally a straight flush, and won substantial pots with all three to propel himself to the upper chip tiers.
George Sanford (213,500) and Paul Strohm (203,500) were both making moves throughout the day, and kept their names in the counts and in the news as they put nice stacks in the bag for Sunday's final day.
Other notable names that carried on to Day 2 include "Farmer" Phil Mader (164,500), early chip leader Tim Rystrom (151,000), Greg Jennings (112,000), and Justin Gardenhire (65,500).
Daniel Lowery, Grant Hinkle, and Steve Fredlund were among the names of players that were unable to advance, but two more flights will give them ample opportunity to take another shot at the All Stars Ring.
Day 1b will kick off at Noon local time on Saturday, June 26th, and follow the same structure as today's Day 1a flight (13 30-minute levels before bag and tag). Day 1c is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. on the same day, and all three flights will converge on Sunday, June 27th and play down to a winner.
PokerNews will be on hand to provide updates throughout, so stay tuned as we come one step closer to crowning the latest RunGood Poker Series champ!

Five More Hands
The remaining field will play five more hands before bagging and tagging for the evening. Stay tuned for a full recap of the night's action.
Waters Chips Up Late
Tim Garles raised to 9,000 from middle position, and Bob Waters three-bet to 20,000 from the big blind. Garles called.
Waters announced, "All in," on the flop for his last 55,000, and Garles didn't waste much time in folding.

Mader Gets Tricky
Phil Mader limped in from the button, and the player in the small blind raised to 14,000. After the big blind folded, Mader three-bet to 33,000, sending the small blind into the tank.
"I got one of those," the small blind told Mader, flashing a card to Mader that the rest of the table didn't see. A moment later, the small blind folded and Mader mucked sight unseen.
