Nick Walker

2014 Western New York Poker Challenge Main Event champ Nick Walker just got the ball rolling here with a 900-chip late position open.

Just one player called and they went heads-up to an {a-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop. Walker continued for 1,000 and got the call.

The turn brought the {q-Diamonds} and another bet from Walker, who made it 2,200. This time his opponent folded.

Moeller's Big Day

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

One lost pot can't slow down Pat Moeller's big day.

He limp called when one of the blinds made it 2,400. Then joined his opponent in checking the {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{j-Hearts} flop.

Moeller called another 4,000-chip bet on the {q-Hearts} turn, but the {7-Clubs} river saw checks from both players.

Moeller claimed an ace, but mucked when his opponent showed {a-}{k-}.

Despite the misstep, he's still on over 100,000 in chips and appears to be the only player in the room to have done that so far.

He Won't Stop

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

The run-good continues for Nick Alafogiannis.

He limp-called from middle position when the player in the big blind made it 1,900. The small blind came along for the ride and they went three-handed to an {8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Spades} flop.

The small blind led out for 2,375, the big blind made it 5,000 and Alafogiannis flatted. Once again, the small blind came along and the {6-Diamonds} turn was revealed. The small blind checked, but not the big, she pushed all her chips in and only Alafogiannis called.

She had {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, but Alafogiannis had her crushed, having turned a straight after flopping an open-ended straight flush draw with {3-Spades}{4-Spades}.

The {2-Diamonds} river obviously changed nothing and Alafogiannis pushed up close to 80,000.

Foster Felts Napierala

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

To this point, it appears Blake Napierala will have to settle for that fourth-place finish in Event #6 last night.

Unless he chooses to re-enter this Main Event either later today or tomorrow.

He got it all in preflop dominated with {a-Spades}{4-Hearts} against Adam Foster's {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}. A flop that included the {k-Hearts} and not much else was enough to send Napierala to the rail and vault Foster up towards the top of the chip counts.

It Takes Two to Tango

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Two of the area's most respected rounders just tangled over a sizable pot.

Andy Spears made it 1,200 from late position before Travell Thomas started talking.

"Oh, I'm gonna crack you," he said, making the call from the small blind.

Jason Nablo also called from the big blind and they went three-way to the {q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop. Two checks were followed by a Spears bet of 2,000 which only Thomas called.

The turn came the {2-Spades} and Thomas check-called another 3,800 Spears bet. The river was the trend following {2-Diamonds} and after another check from Thomas, Spears fired a hefty 10,500.

"I think I have to fold my flush here man, and it sucks," Thomas said, tanking for a minute before eventually letting it go.
