The Final Starting Flight For The Summer Slam $200 Reentry Starts Now!

The 2017 Seneca Niagara Falls Summer Slam poker tournament series continues today with its $200 No-Limit Hold'em multiple-flight reentry event.
The fourth and final starting flight begins at 6 p.m. local time inside the Niagara Falls Poker Room at the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino. Registration and unlimited reentry is available through the first eight levels, which means players will be firing away early and often.
This is the last chance to get in a an event that has already smashed its $50,000 guarantee drawing 378 entries so far.
The goal: Make it through 14 levels of play or until just 12 percent of the field remains. The prize: A seat in Day 2 Sunday where the big money and Seneca Poker glory awaits.
Survivors will take whatever chips they manage to collect along the way with them, joining the 57 in so far.
Players will start with 15,000 in tournament chips and the levels are 30 minutes each. On Day 2 the levels jump to 40 minutes, giving the players a little more wiggle room.
Mark Roberts is the current chip leader having bagged over 300,000 in the first flight.
Events like this create big prize pools at small price points and the 2017 Seneca Niagara Falls Summer Slam version is proving that. They also create crowds, so a big field is expected tonight to take a shot decent payday for a couple of hundred bucks.

This flight starts with a big number on the board. There's 81 entries and counting with a steady stream of players walking up to the cage to register.
The action started fast as well, with Andy Ranaletti flopping trips and shoving the river versus Bruce Pace. Pace called with ace-king high and was sent packing with Ranaletti stepping up to take Level 2 chip lead honors.
There's a solid group of memorable faces in the crowd tonight as well, highlighted by Julie 'Bang Bang' Billiteri, whose unforgettable run from satellite winner to final table participant in the 2016 Summer Slam Main Event is always remembered fondly by all who witnessed it.

Ranaletti Gives It Up, Phillips Steps It Up

Andy Ranaletti's time at the top was short lived.
In fact, he gave away his early double up to Marcy Jo Phillips when he made top-pair top-kicker. Phillips had top pair and kicker problems, but they were inevitably solved on the river when she made two pair.
That pot and a few others along the way have helped Phillips push up to the top of the counts headed into the first break of the flight.

An Elaborate Ruse

Fresh off a final table appearance in the 2017 World Series of Poker Tag Team event and a summer internship working under structure guru Allen Kessler, top local rounder DJ MacKinnon is back home and firing away in this $200 reentry event.
In fact, MacKinnon just ran into a bizarre situation moments ago and managed to chip up a bit coming out of it.
The hand played pretty standard until the river. There was an early position min-raise and MacKinnon called from the small blind. The big blind came along and they checked to the raiser on a 
flop.
The aggressor bet 600 again, and only Mackinnon called. Both checked the 
turn, but after MacKinnon checked the 
river, the initial raiser bet 1,300.
MacKinnon was thinking about it when the raiser said he had it and flashed his cards. He then claimed a straight. MacKinnon started laughing when his opponent then offered to show one. The dealer told him explicitly not to reveal his hand, but he showed the 
regardless. Then he said he had a set.
The floor stepped in and issued a warning before MacKinnon made a crying call with two sevens. It turned out he had the best hand with the raiser finally admitting his ruse showing the 
as well.
