Day 1b Completed
The 2017 Seneca Niagara Summer Slam Main Event drew a whopping 269 entries for its second and final starting flight inside the Niagara Falls Poker Room at the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino Saturday.
When added to the 145 from the first flight, the grand total reached 414 creating a $220,869 prizepool that will pay the top 45 finishers.
A min-cash is worth almost double the buy-in at $1,193 and a $51,904 first-place prize awaits the winner.
By the time 15 40-minute levels of play were through a total of 55 were left standing. This group will join the 33 that survived the first flight to make for 88 returning for Sunday’s playdown to a champion starting at 11 a.m. local time.
Fairport, NY’s Scott Hosbach won every hand he played in the final three levels, dominating the end the flight to bag over 500,000, and not just the second starting flight lead, but the lead overall. In fact, no one is even close.
However, making it to the money and beyond will be no easy task Sunday, with a number of the area’s top players still in the mix and stacked.
The 2017 Seneca Niagara Summer Slam Main Event moves on to its final day Sunday and it should be a dandy as they play into the money, onto a final table, and down to champion.
PokerNews will be on hand to cover all the action, so stay tuned.

Full chip counts and a short recap will follow.
It's normally very hard to knock Aaron Obstein out of a tournament. But not when you're running like Scott Hosbach is right now.
Obstein flopped a set of fours and ultimately got it in versus Hosbach, who turned the bigger set of sixes to collect the tough knockout and vault into the lead.
Hosbach is sitting on over 400,000 now as the flight winds down.

Bruce Pace just weaved his way out of a classic cooler.
He ran jacks into Mike Hopkins' queens for 150,000 and looked to be all but out until a jack came down on the river and saved his day.
It also just about ruined Hopkins', as he's down to the wood now.

Fairport, NY's Scott Hosbach has suddenly vaulted into a spot near the top of the counts.
Trip jacks made for a big hand a little earlier and just recently he turned Broadway versus big slick's top two to push over 300,000.
In the meantime, James DiPasquale continues to dominate play, moving up to 350,000. He was also recently moved two seats to Hosbach's right, setting up a possible confrontation between the flight's two biggest stacks right now.

Veerab Zakarian had built up a six-figure stack, but his wings just got clipped by fellow Canadian Judy Miller.
Miller had and called two Zakarian barrels after and ace-high flop. When a jack came on the river, and Zakarian checked, she moved in.
Zakarian called it off with the . Now, as Miller vaults into a spot among the leaders, Young Wizard Zakarian said goodbye to a memorable, if not profitable, 2017 Seneca Niagara Summer Slam series.
