Day 1cd Started
Two starting days have been completed and two remain in the 2024 SunBet Poker Tour Time Square Main Event at the Time Square Casino on the outskirts of Pretoria, the administrative capital of South Africa. So far, an overall field of 178 entries has emerged and 28 players bagged up chips for Day 2 on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
The marquee Main Event comes with a buy-in of ZAR15,000 (~$790) and the tournament features a ZAR5,000,000 (~$263,400) guarantee, which requires some 400 total entries. It is expected to be a busy day in the Time Square Casino as the Main Event flights are the only tournament scheduled for today. Yesterday's satellite brought in eleven tickets and many poker players from nearby are expected to make the trip for the upcoming weekend.

All players receive 40,000 in chips and the late registration and re-entry period is open for the first ten levels. By the end of it, the turbo heat 1d is also underway as of 8 p.m. local time with 30-minute levels during the registration period and 15 minute levels thereafter.
As of the first break on Day 1c, the live stream will pick up the action and will be hosted on a security delay of 30 minutes on the Monster Jam Poker Tour Twitch and YouTube channels.
The PokerNews live updates will focus on Day 1c and chip counts as well as a recap of the final two flights will be provided at the end of the night, along with the Day 2 redraw.

The third starting day has kicked off with three tables running and some 17 players are seated. If there are three or more players ready to go, the respective new tables will kick off.
Kinesh Pater finished in fifth place in the ZAR50,000 High Roller on the live stream table last night and he is among the notables in the Day 1c field. There are now already four tables open and that number will certainly increase in the next few hours.

With 3,600 in preflop by Ivan Wessels, Harold Brooks called and they checked the 8♠2♥2♦ flop. Brooks then check-called for 3,600 on the 10♠ turn before the 3♠ river was checked again.
Wessels tabled his K♥8♥ but Brooks won the pot with the J♠J♦ for jacks and deuces.
"Nice hand," Wessels sighed as he dropped to half the starting stack early already.

With some 8,000 in the middle to the K♥K♦4♦7♠3♥ river, Warren Zackey checked and Stephen Courtney bet 4,000. The check-raise to 10,000 by Zackey followed and Courtney called within a few seconds to instantly roll over his K♣9♥ already.
Zackey never showed his cards but slid them into the muck.

Shannon Elizabeth is the second player to enter Day 1c after having bagged chips for Day 2 already and will try to surpass her stack size of Day 1a, as the bigger stack will be carried over for the race towards the money stages.
She was involved in a hand with "Amstel" and bet the 8♥5♣5♦6♥4♣ river for 4,000. "Amstel" called and Elizabeth shrugged "you got it, I don't have anything" before she flashed her 10♠2♣. The pot went to "Amstel" with the A♠5♠ for trips fives.
