At noon local time, the 71 survivors out of a field of 418 entries return to their seats in the Time Square Casino in Pretoria to battle for a portion of the ZAR5,266,800 ($281,989) prize pool. That's how much is up for grabs in the 2024 SunBet Poker Tour Time Square Main Event, which features a buy-in of ZAR15,000 (~$790) buy-in.
Four starting flights have concluded in the past three days and the marquee tournament of South Africa's newest up and coming live poker series surpassed the ZAR5,000,000 guarantee. The biggest field emerged last night on Day 1c with 155 entries, and Benjamin "Guppie" Lingenfelder emerged as the new chip leader with 614,000 in chips. He is closely followed by Elai Mazor with 592,000 but they are the only two players with more than half a million in chips at their disposal.
Other notables in the overall top ten include Anand Kumar (420,000) and Roy Bitton (406,000) whereas Menesh Keshav (338,000) and Kinesh Pather (248,000) also have above-average stacks available as well.

Nic Ioannoy (236,000) and Shannon Elizabeth (114,000) advanced from Day 1a and tried their luck again on Day 1c to advance with a bigger stack but busted, thus taking over their initial stacks into Day 2.
The action kicks off at noon local time with 48 minutes left in level 13 at blinds of 2,000-4,000 and a big blind ante of 4,000, rolled back to when the fastest flight finished. With 71 players remaining and 53 spots paid, the opening stages will be dominated by the bubble period.
As of Day 2, the level duration increases to 60 minutes each and will remain that way until a winner has been crowned on Sunday, March 10, 2024. Besides the PokerNews live updates from the outer tables, there will also be live stream available on the Monster Jam Poker Tour YouTube and Twitch channels on a security delay of 30 minutes all the way to the final hand.
Level: 14
Blinds: 3,000/5,000
Ante: 5,000
Please disregard the posted blinds as the roll back of two levels has its limitations in the structure. The blinds for the first 48 minutes are 2,000-4,000 with a big blind ante of 4,000.
Timothy Du Plessis was the first player all in and at risk preflop with the K♣Q♣ and picked an unfortunate timing as Menesh Keshav looked him up with the A♠A♣.
Thanks to a board of J♥7♣2♣Q♠3♣, Du Plessis spiked the flush.
Nahum Lum was less fortunate, as his preflop shove with the A♣10♣ was called by Patrice Ah-Nien with the A♦A♠. The board ran out J♠8♥5♣6♦10♦ to knock out Lum.

Danny Dayani raised to 9,000 and was called by Huawei Sun as well as Imran Bhojani. Merwan Corront in the small blind then clicked it up to 40,000 and Dayani announced a reraise, splashing in 159,000. Sun moved all-in over the top of that and Bhojani joked "can I not play this hand, please?"
Corront asked for a count but folded while Dayani called with a shrug.
Huawei Sun: A♠A♥
Danny Dayani: 10♥10♦
The board ran out 8♠4♥3♥2♥9♠ and Sun doubled for 269,000.

"SM" picked up where he left yesterday with his aggressive play when he played a larger pot versus Ricky Toker. On the 9♦5♠4♥Q♥7♠ river, SM moved all-in and Toker sigh-folded, then told his father one table over "lost a big one".
In the meanwhile, Jaco van der Westhuizen was eliminated and explained that his nut flush draw as a short stack had missed over on table 17.

There was a raise to 15,000 out in front of Mathew Ord-Hume and in unter the gun and he then called the shove by Djordje Stojic in the small blind for 87,000.
Djordje Stojic: J♦J♠
Mathew Ord-Hume: K♣K♥
The superior pair remained ahead on the 10♦9♠4♠ flop but the J♣ turn vaulted Stojic into the lead, the 8♠ river changed nothing anymore.
