Cantu Gets There in Massive Pot

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Jesus Cantu
Jesus Cantu

Jesus Cantu played a four-bet pot against Gerard Sukhram that the table reported after the fact.

Sukhram four-bet preflop and Cantu decided to take his hand to the flop. The dealer put out the {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades} and both players got all their chips into the middle.

Sukhram turned over the {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} which had the {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} of Cantu drawing thin. One of the best turns in the deck in the {q-Hearts} gave Cantu lots of hope and the miracle {x-Hearts} river completed the runner-runner flush that catapulted Cantu into the lead to scoop the 200,000 chip pot and eliminate Sukhram.

Tibbs Tabs Opponent

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Mark Tibbs was in a preflop flip as he held the {6-Clubs}{6-Spades} vs the {a-Spades}{k-Hearts} of his opponent.

The board ran out safely for the sixes as it came {q-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} to give Tibbs a nice boost to hos stack and shrink the field by one more.

Shumard Goes for the Hero Call

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Three players looked at a flop of {9-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}. Action checked to Caleb Shumard on the button who bet 4,200 and was called by Aden Salazar in the small blind and Mark Tibbs in middle position.

The turn brought the {9-Diamonds} pairing the board and all three players checked.

The river was the {3-Hearts} and Salazar decided to lead for about a pot-sized bet of 17,300. Tibbs folded, but Shumard put together calling chips and put them over the line. Salazar showed the {a-Spades}{8-Clubs} for the bluff, but Shumard flipped over the {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and yelled, "chop."

As he looked closer, though, he realized his hero call wouldn't be bringing any chips his way. "Oh no, the eight plays," he realized. It did, and Salazar was happy to scoop the pot with his ace high.

Nguyen Gets Aggressive on the Flop

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Vu Nguyen raised preflop to 2,200 and got calls from Andrew Ostapchenko on the button and Frank Firicano in the big blind. The flop showed {a-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Spades} for the monotone board.

Firicano checked in flow and Nguyen bet 2,000. Ostapchecnko answered with a raise to 4,800 on the button. Firicano quickly folded. Nguyen considered his options and decided to ramp up the pressure with a three-bet to 11,500.

Ostapchenko looked at his cards one last time and threw them into the muck. Nguyen turned over the {j-Spades}{q-Hearts} to show the semi-bluff. "Queen high was good," said Ostapchenko as Nguyen dragged his pot.

Schmitt's Kings Survive a Scary Runout

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Three players saw the flop that read {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and Joel Schmitt bet 5,000. Jeffrey Fielder called the bet on the button and the big blind folded.

The turn brought the {6-Clubs} and Schmitt decided to check. Fielder now bet 7,500 and Schmitt check-called.

The river brought the {a-Hearts} and both players checked. Schmitt rolled over the {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} and Fielder said, "nice hand," and mucked.
