Crooks Finally Caught

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante
Derek Crooks
Derek Crooks

Derek Crooks was living on the edge with repeated all-in shoves going uncalled, and finally Yevgeniy Minakrin put him at risk when he picked up {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts} in the small blind. Crooks had {k-Spades}{8-Clubs}, and he flopped a bit of help as {a-Spades}{2-Spades}{8-Hearts} hit the felt. The {j-Diamonds} turn meant he was drawing dead, however.

Hodge Doubles Through Fussy

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Leo Fussy opened for 90,000 in middle position and called the shove of Mark Hodge, who had only 215,000.

"I'm hoping you're light, Leo," Hodge said, showing {a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}.

Fussy affirmed he was, showing {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. He said he was going to hit an eight, but no such thing happened as {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{4-Spades} gave Hodge the win.

"Easy Fade"

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Rich Alsup pushed all in for 220,000, and Rodney Colson reshoved from the hijack for about 550,000. Everyone else folded.

Alsup: {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Colson: {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

"I've got my favorite hand," Alsup said. He declared he would win the race.

The flop came {6-Spades}{8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}, and Alsup looked prescient. The {q-Clubs} turn gave Colson more outs.

"Easy fade," Alsup said. "Give him more outs."

Minakrin's Call Not Rewarded

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Yevgeniy Minakrin bet 100,000 on a {4-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop, and Peixin Liu shoved in for 495,000 from Minakrin's left on the button. Minakrin called after briefly thinking.

Minakrin: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Liu: {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

Minakrin had best hand with ace-high, but Liu picked up even more outs on the {6-Clubs} turn.

"Seven of diamonds," Minkrin said, expecting Liu to get there. He did as the {7-Hearts} fell giving him a straight.
