Welcome to Day 1c of Mid-States Poker Tour Golden Gates
The final heat of the Mid-States Poker Tour Golden Gates is set to begin at 5 p.m. local time here in Black Hawk, Colo. With 300 players already entered through the first two Day 1s, we can expect another field in the neighborhood of 150 today as players take their last shots at this rapidly growing prize pool.
Since the fields here at Golden Gates have been larger than normal by MSPT standards, 10 levels will be played instead of the usual nine. Players will begin with 25,000 in chips, and blinds start at 50/100. Levels will last 50 minutes throughout the day.
Nobody on Day 1b could match the 302,100 bagged by Gene Gioia on Day 1a, so we'll see if anyone on Day 1c can snag the overall chip lead. Be sure to tune in throughout the evening as we bring you all of the live updates here on PokerNews.

Foxwoods Poker Classic Running Now Through March 23

Foxwoods Resort Casino®, the largest resort casino in North America, is hosting the annual Foxwoods Poker Classic, running now through March 23. The two week tournament attracts top fields of both professional and amateur poker players. Held in the largest poker room on the East Coast and spanning 16 days, this 22-event tournament will be highlighted by our March 21, three-day, $2,700 no-limit hold’em main event with a guaranteed prize pool of $400,000.
Last year’s Foxwoods Poker Classic had a total of 3,557 entries and paid out over $1.5 million in prize money, with the main event drawing 192 entries and a prize pool of $433,008. This year, Foxwoods added several guarantees to their events, totaling $1,000,000.
Foxwoods’ Poker Room boasts close to 100 tables in the sprawling main room featuring a variety of live-action games being spread around the clock. An additional 60 tournament tables are located in a separate tournament room offering weekly no-limit hold’em events with total payouts over $200,000 and guarantees totaling $55,000. Foxwoods is also associated with the World Series of Poker and will host satellites for the WSOP Main Event from June 1-14. To keep pace with Connecticut’s live event scene, the WSOP Circuit will be coming August 14-25, pairing big buy-ins with good structures that have been praised by many visiting pros.

Uniss Takes a Bet-Call-Bet Line

Spencer Uniss three-bet to 1,400 out of the big blind after the cutoff opened to 450 and got called by the small blind. The cutoff called, and Uniss continuation-bet 1,200 on the 
flop. The cutoff made it 2,650, and Uniss called. He then came out betting with 5,000 on the 
turn, and the cutoff thought for about a minute before letting his hand go.
Uniss, a Boulder, Colo., native, notched a win worth over $200,000 at an event here in 2011, so we'll see if he can take another title here in his home state.
