Day 1b of the $1,600 MSPT Venetian Main Event has come to an end and Bin Weng bagged the top stack after the final hand of Level 16, which proved to be the final hand of the day.

The second of three flights in the $750,000 guarantee attracted 282 entries and 32 players made the money by surviving to see Day 2.

Weng bagged the chip lead of 706,000 chips thanks to a late surge on the final hand of the night, when he found a fortunate runout to eliminate Bob Zeidman on the money bubble. Weng also flopped a straight earlier in the day to crack the aces of Adam Hendrix and eliminated two players on his way to the chip lead.

Jessica Vierling (653,000), Errol Samuel (653,000), Kane Lai (560,000), and Brazilian two-time bracelet winner Joao Simao (532,000) round out the top five bagged stacks on Day 1b.

Some players in the field who weren’t able to bag a stack include Ryan Laplante, Chance Kornuth, Alex Foxen, Joseph Cheong, Rob Wazwaz, Rich Alsup, and MSPT Season 13 Player of the Year frontrunner Josh Reichard, who had an up-and-down day and ultimately was eliminated by quads near the end of the night. However, all will have another opportunity to bag a stack during the final starting flight tomorrow.

All 32 surviving players from Day 1b will be in the money and will combine with the 17 surviving players from Day 1a and the Day 1c survivors for the Sunday finale at 11:00 a.m. local time to play down to a winner. Day 1c will be the last starting flight and will commence on Saturday at 11:10 a.m.

Stay tuned as the PokerNews team continues to provide live updates from the floor of the $1,600 MSPT Main Event at Venetian Las Vegas all weekend long until a champion is crowned.

Zeidman Eliminated by Weng on Money Bubble

Level 16 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Bin Weng
Bin Weng

Bob Zeidman had gotten his approximately 110,000 chips in from the small blind and was at risk against Bin Weng in the big blind.

Bob Zeidman: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}
Bin Weng: {j-Hearts}{9-Spades}

Zeidman was a big favorite for a double, but the {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop left him in rough shape. The {4-Clubs} and {j-Diamonds} completed the board and Zeidman was eliminated on the bubble following the unfortunate runout, while Weng took the tournament chip lead as the remaining 32 players bagged and tagged for the night.

Mandavia Doubles with Quads

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Ankush Mandavia
Ankush Mandavia

Ankush Mandavia moved all in for 71,000 in middle position and Maziar Keshavarzi rejammed in the cutoff.

Ankush Mandavia: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Maziar Keshavarzi: {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}

It was a fair fight until the {j-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop put Mandavia well ahead with a set. The {2-Spades} turn provided a sweat, but the {7-Hearts} completed the board to give Mandavia quads and the double.

Maziar Keshavarzi opened to 10,000 in the hijack, Josh Reichard called in the cutoff, and the big blind defended.

The dealer fanned out the {j-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop and the big blind checked to Keshavarzi who continued for 19,000. Only Reichard called.

The {6-Spades} fell on the turn and Keshavarzi check-folded to a bet of roughly 60,000, conceding the pot to the current leader of the MSPT Season 13 Player of the Year race.

Weng Flops Nuts to Crack Hendrix's Aces

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Bin Weng
Bin Weng

Adam Hendrix opened to 2,500 from early position, a middle position player flatted, the button flatted, and Bin Weng defended the big blind.

The dealer fanned out the {8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop and action checked to the button who bet 10,000. Weng called and Hendrix moved all in for approximately 23,000. The middle position player folded, the button quickly jammed for roughly 50,000, and Weng quickly called.

Adam Hendrix: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Middle Position: {7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}
Bin Weng: {9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}

Hendrix's rockets flopped the worst against the flopped two pair and Weng's flopped straight. The {3-Spades} turn and {3-Clubs} river completed the board, and Weng stayed ahead to eliminate both players.

Mitchell Halverson - Josh Reichard
Mitchell Halverson - Josh Reichard

Mitchell Halverson opened to 2,600 on the button and Josh Reichard three-bet to 10,000 in the small blind. Halverson called.

The dealer spread the {k-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop, Reichard continued for 5,500, and Halverson called.

The {q-Diamonds} landed on the turn and Reichard check-called for 18,000.

The {10-Spades} completed the board and Reichard checked. Halverson moved all in for 85,500 to send Reichard into the tank, and after receiving a count, Reichard ultimately called.

Halverson tabled his {5-Spades}{3-Spades} rivered flush to claim the massive pot as Reichard's cards went into the muck.

Chance Kornuth

With roughly 20,000 in the pot on a {9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{9-Clubs} completed board, a player in the big blind led out for 15,000, and Chance Kornuth had a decision in the under-the-gun position. Kornuth thought about it and ultimately tossed in the calling chips.
