The World Cup of Cards begins today at the Playground Poker Club in Montreal. The No Limit Quantam Day 1a starts at 7 p.m. local time. This will be the first of ten starting flights, with buyins as low as CAD $170 up to CAD $2,200, which is a direct buyin to Day 2.
Every player who makes Day 2 from any of the Quantam starting flights will receive CAD $400. Players can finish multiple starting flights and take their biggest stack forward. Each time a player makes Day 2 they will earn $400 CAD and $1,500 for each forfeited stack.
This is just the first event on the 28-event schedule. Players will be able to compete all month for their share of the CAD $2,000,000 guaranteed in prize money throughout the World Cup of Cards.

With just 4,400 in the pot and a flop of Sanjeepan Sathasivam and Joakim Beaupre got into a raising war ending with Sathasivam all-in and at risk.

The fell on the turn giving Sathasivam a bit more equity in the hand needing to fade any spade but the seven to claim the pot. The river came the filling Sathasivam up as he took down the pot scoring a massive double up.
The chips are flying at the table bossed by Nick-Real Seide. He was the beneficiary again just moments ago.
Seide had his opponent, Marcel Andre peroval all-in and at risk on a flop holding . He was way ahead of Peroval's and held through the and falling on the turn and river.
The very next hand a preflop raise-war ended with Andrew Boujaoude having his opponent all-in and at risk.

The board ran out and Boujaoude's spiked river-flush won the hand busting his opponent.
The first event of a 28-event schedule at Playground Poker Room's World Cup of Cards has finished. There were 161 players all vying for the 13 Day 2 spots. In the end, Brent Mccue just missed Day 2 when he got all in preflop against Kathy Sawers with . Sawers had and held. She will enter Day 2 with 169,800.
Nick-Real Seide was eliminated just before Mccue after having the chip lead for a good portion of the day. [Removed:105] took over the chip lead and ended the day with 399,100, almost 100,000 ahead of Eric Ranger who finished with the second largest stack (301,900).
Day 2 will be Sept. 13th, but until then each of the players who cashed today can play one of the nine remaining starting flights. If they make Day 2 again, they forfeit their smaller stack and earn CAD $400 on top of the CAD $1,500 for the forfeited stack. Day 1b starts Saturday at 7 p.m. local time.
