Jazzar Doubles through Porter

Rony Jazzar
Rony Jazzar
The stacks are more balanced now after Rep Porter took a sizable hit and doubled up Rony Jazzar. Jazzar opened preflop for 66,000, with Porter calling from the small blind. On a ten-high flop, {3-Spades} {10-Clubs} {4-Hearts}, Porter checked and then called Jazzar's bet of 100,000.

The turn was the {5-Diamonds}. Porter checked a second time, prompting Jazzar to move all in for 460,000. It was only the second time Jazzar has been all in at this final table; the first time he showed an under-pair of sevens on the river of a queen-high board. We don't know if that influenced Porter's decision, but he opted to call with top pair, {K-Hearts} {10-Spades}. Jazzar showed {J-Diamonds} {J-Spades} and doubled up with a blank on the river, {4-Spades}.

Small Talk

"Small blind, please," said the rather attractive German-Russian dealer to Huck Seed.

"It's already out there, can't you see it?" said Seed, flasing a big grin. He pointed to his red ante chip which was actually in front of the vacant seat to his left. The dealer didn't acknowledge the comment as she began to pitch the cards.

"Man, I pay my blinds and now she's going to make me pay them twice," Seed continued, trying to get a rise out of her. Once more, no response.

Seed gave up. Looking up at the floor man announcing the table, he said "I only play these events to flirt with the dealers. But they won't say a word to me... Is it too late to get out of this tournament now?"

Too Little or Too Much?

We've remarked upon the lack of action at the table. This hand may prove instructive. Rep Porter opened preflop for 55,000 and was called by Huck Seed out of the big blind. Seed checked and called a bet of 80,000 on an ace-high flop, {10-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {5-Diamonds}. Both players checked the {A-Diamonds} turn.

When a third ace, the {A-Spades}, fell on the river, Seed led out for 41,000. It was a bet that Porter mulled over for a full minute before folding.

"I bet too much," deadpanned Seed as he collected the pot.

Uri-ka

Uri Keidar is off to a fast start this afternoon after already having doubled his Day 5 starting stack.

In a recent three-way pot, Huck Seed opened with a raise to 55,000 from the cutoff, Keidar called from the small blind and Rony Jazzar tagged along in the big.

No bets were made until the river as the board filled out {6-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}. First to act, Keidar fired a 90,000 bet that prompted both Jazzar and Seed to fold.

The hand hoisted Keidar up over the one million mark in chips.

Red Bull, to the Final Table Area

Since Thomas Bichon's double-up, play has ground down significantly. There hasn't been a flop seen in more than an orbit around the table, with players taking turns raising pre-flop and sometimes re-raising. We've been unable to discern any trends. For the moment, no players is enjoying much of an advantage over any other player.

We surmised at the start of the day that play might be tight, due to an awareness amongst the players that only four eliminations were required to make it to tomorrow's TV final table. Now that we're even closer with just eight remaining, the same holds doubly true.

Bichon Dodges "84" Outs to Double Up

Thomas Bichon moved all in for 160,000 from the button and was called by Steven Fung in the big blind. At the showdown, Fung tabled {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}, not too far behind Bichon's {A-Spades}{2-Hearts}.

The board filled out {9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{J-Spades} by the turn, and Fung had outs to make a straight, a flush and even a pair, but the {7-Diamonds} completed the board, missing Fung completely and allowing Bichon to double up to 354,000 in chips.

"You hit all kind of crap hands and then you miss that one," joked Jonathan Little. "84 outs you had."

Nenad Medic Eliminated in 9th Place ($27,680)

Nenad Medic - 9th Place
Nenad Medic - 9th Place
Nenad Medic came into the day in 10th chip position, the bottom of the barrel. He outlasted Layne Flack but will run no further. After Medic opened for 55,000, the newly resurgent Uri Keidar re-popped it to 210,000, clearing out everyone else. Medic seemed stuck, and could be seen counting the chips up for grabs to decide if it were possible for him to fold his hand. In the end he decided it was not, and called all in for less than the 210,000.

Medic: {A-Hearts} {7-Spades}
Keidar: {A-Diamonds} {K-Clubs}

Keidar was in a dominating lead and took a stranglehold on the pot with a {K-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {5-Hearts} by making a pair of kings. Medic was left with only a few runner-runner draws. The {Q-Hearts} on the turn gave him half of one of those draws; any heart on the river would give Medic the nut flush. The river was red, but it was the {2-Diamonds}, bouncing Medic to the rail in 9th place.
