Numbers Climb; Re-Entries Galore

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

It always seemed likely there would be a healthy number of re-entries in this starting day and that has proved to be the case. There are 32 re-entries among the field of 187 entrants. So far seven of them have been eliminated and they in turn will have their last chance to buy in at 8 p.m. for Day 1d.

Also at the tables are Guillaume Reverchon with a Party Poker.fr patch on and veteran player Philippe Barouk.

Chacon Makes Sebag Pay

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Loic Chacon was in the small blind when it was folded to him and he completed. Albert Sebag was in the big blind and he raised and got the call so they went to a heads-up flop of {4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}.

Chacon check-called a bet of 1,200 from Sebag and they saw the {2-Spades} fall on the turn. Chacon then check-called a bet of 4,000 and the river card {8-Hearts} completed the board. Chacon now lead out for 8,000. That prompted Sebag to take of his headphones and interrogate his opponent while repeatedly re-checking his hole cards. “Coeur?” was the gist of Sebag’s enquiries.

Sebag threw out the call and could only nod his head as Chacon turned over {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for the winning flush. An expensive pot for Sebag but a profitable one for Chacon’s flopped flush.

Sebag Shows Cards

Level 3 : 75/150, 25 ante

The flop was {10-Spades}{j-Clubs}{9-Spades} and three players were contesting it including the player with the Winamax WIP patch and large headphones, Albert Sebag. It was checked to Sebag and he bet 3,000 into a pot of around the same amount.

The two other players released their hands after some brief thought, and before the pot was pushed to Sebag he turned over first the {9-Hearts} and placed it next to the matching card on the flop and then did the same with his other card {j-Diamonds}.

Another player rapped the table and gave him the thumbs up prompting Sebag to take his headphones off and launch into a one sided discussion with one of the other players who had folded to his bet. Table 21 could provide some fireworks later on by the look of it.

Genevrier First Out With Aces

Level 3 : 75/150, 25 ante

Pascal Genevrier was in late position with three other players looking at a flop of {8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{k-Clubs}. The player in the small blind had checked and was the sole caller when Genevrier bet 2,500.

The turn card {8-Spades} saw the small blind check again and Genevrier threw out a big 8,000 bet. The player in the small blind eyed him up for a few moments before sliding out his big chips for a bet of 25,000 leaving just 500 behind. Genevrier looked a little confused briefly but did make the call and was the player at risk. Genevrier showed {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} but was in deep trouble against the {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} of his opponent.

The river was the {10-Hearts} and PMU player Genevrier quietly gathered his belongings before heading for the exit.

Set Over Set

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

With an open to 375 on table 15 from seat 2 there was a raise to 825 from seat 4 which saw calls from seat 6 and the player in the small blind as well as the original raiser. It went four way to a flop of {10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{j-Spades} and the small blind led out for 2,000.

The bet got two folds but seat 6 took his small pig figurine from his chip stack and made the call. The turn card was the {k-Spades} and the small blind flicked out a single black T5000 chip which again got a call. The river {q-Spades} proved to be an action killer as both players checked. The player in the small blind scooped the pot as he turned over his {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} and the tiny pig would be sitting on a smaller pile as his owner showed his flopped set {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}.

Kings Go To Waste

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

There was an open to 350 from a player in late position but when it got to the small blind he queried the fact that chips were in for the big blind but no player was yet seated. The floor was called and it was ruled the dealer had incorrectly put the blinds in from the racked up stack and it was declared a mis-deal. The opener then showed his {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} to sympathetic smiles.

The action was resumed with the correct blinds in and, after a raise from early position, the unlucky player with kings made the call. It was four players to a flop of {3-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} as the king made another appearance. A bet of 500 from the raiser saw him take it down.

This was a rare occurrence of the floor being called in the tournament so far with generally excellent dealers and knowledgeable players helping to keep the action running smoothly and amicably.
