Lucci Leads!

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Gary Lucci
Gary Lucci

Before the break Gary Lucci pushed past the two million-chip mark and into the lead.

On the button, he limp called a Jonathan Karamalikis raise from the big blind preflop, going heads up to a {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop.

Karamalikis bet 80,000, and Lucci called, sending them to a {K-Hearts} turn that they both checked.

The river came the {a-Spades} and Karamalikis led for 65,000. Lucci called with {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds} for two pair and Karamalikis could only show jack-high.

Jeff Gross Eliminated in 13th Place ($14,130 CAD)

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Jeff Gross
Jeff Gross

There won't be another final table appearance at the Playground Poker Club for Jeff Gross this time around.

The 2013 WPT Montreal third-place finisher is out 13th after running {a-}{9-} into Trevor Delaney's pocket jacks and failing to improve.

The always affable Gross spoke with PokerNews' Caitlyn Howe yesterday. Check out the video evidence below:

Karamalikis Doubles; Tsehai Slides

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Samuel Tsehai
Samuel Tsehai

Jonathan Karamalikis got relatively short and got it in with {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} versus Pascal LeFrancois' {J-Clubs}{K-Hearts}.

He won the flip and doubled on a {6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{a-Spades}{2-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} run out.

In the meantime, on the other table, Samuel Tsehai had bet 220,000 into a pot of about 300,000 on the river of a board reading {K-Hearts}{5-Spades}{10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{A-Hearts} heads-up with Sheraz Nasir.

Nasir raised to 535,000 and after a good few minutes in the tank someone called the clock on Tsehai. He eventually folded and the start-of-day chip leader is now down to about half of what he began play with.

Samuel Tsehai Eliminated in 12th Pace ($17,290 CAD)

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Samuel Tsehai
Samuel Tsehai

Samuel Tsehai is out and Lu Zhang is now contending for top spot on the chip count board with 11 left.

The overnight chip leader got it all in with {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} on the turn of a {3-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} board.

However, Zhang had {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} and it held following the {5-Spades} river.

John Krpan Eliminated in 11th Place ($17,290 CAD)

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
John Krpan
John Krpan

John Krpan got his short stack all in preflop against both Pascal LeFrancois and Robert Taylor.

On the {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} flop, LeFrancois pushed Taylor off with a bet. Krpan showed {k-Diamonds}{K-Spades}, but LeFrancois had flopped the joint with {6-Spades}{7-Clubs}.

The {5-Spades} turn and {10-Clubs} river did little for Krpan and as he exited 11th, they are redrawing for seats at the unofficial final table of ten.

Lu Zhang
Lu Zhang

Lu Zhang bet 72,000 into a {7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop heads-up with Gary Lucci.

Lucci fired back with a raise to 150,000, but Zhang wasn't finished. She three-bet to 352,000.

Lucci called and the turn brought the {5-Spades}. Zhang fired out a bet of 506,000 and Lucci folded claiming a big pocket pair.

Vijayaratnam Doubles Up

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Senthuran Vijayaratnam
Senthuran Vijayaratnam

After a raise and a call in front of him, Senthuran Vijayaratnam shipped it short with {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} and got the loose call from Trevor Delaney holding {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}.

Sheraz Nasir folded claiming pocket sevens and the board ran out {5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{K-Spades}{4-Hearts} with Vijayaratnam surviving, having avoided a Nasir straight that would have felted him.
