Peter "Nordberg" Feldman has just managed to double up through Alan "BodogAri" Engel after getting it all in pre-flop holding pocket tens against Engel's eights.
The flop - a scary one for Feldman - gave Engel outs to a gutshot straight, but it was the on the turn that ultimately gave him the lead in the hand. Needing to spike a ten or a nine to stay alive in the tournament, Feldman breathed a sigh of relief when the popped off on the river, giving him a ten-high straight and ~80,000 in new chips.
Vladimir Gorsky raised to 3,200 under the gun with . Danny Wong called the raise in middle position as did the big blind. On a flop of , Gorsky bet 20,000 of his remaining 30,000 with his top two pair. After thinking for a moment, Wong decided to call and the big blind quickly folded. The turn was the and Gorsky pushed in his remaining chips. Without hesitation Wong called with his , and when the cards were turned over he realized he was drawing dead to three outs. The river was the and that's poker. Vladimir Gorsky has been eliminated in 39th place and Danny Wong moves up to 123,000 in chips.
Full Tilt Pro Bill Edler has just been eliminated from the tournament by fellow pro Steve Wong by way of a straight flush! With the board showing , Edler led out with a 10,500 bet, which was countered by an all-in shove from Wong who put Edler to a decision for the rest of his chips.
Edler made the call and tabled for a king-high straight, but Wong's was good for a straight flush, sending Edler to the rail midway through the ninth level of play.
Theo Tran just went on a roller coaster ride that ultimately resulted in his demise. Things started off with Tran doubling up to about 43,000 in chips after getting it all in pre-flop with A-K against an opponent's A-Q; the better hand held up and Theo raked in the pot.
On the very next hand Tran was dealt A-K again, only this time he wasn't as lucky, in that his opponent, Thomas Hover, had picked up pocket aces. Once again, the better hand held up and Tran was eliminated from the tournament about 15 places shy of the money.
As is typical of the first 10 minutes of most major tournament's Day Twos, we've already seen a few fast and furious eliminations right out of the gate. Following Alan Smurfit's elimination, short stacks Alex Kravchenko and Scott Eskenazi were eliminated in back-to-back hands on different tables, leaving us with 51 players.
Alan Smurfit's pocket jacks were all in pre-flop against Doug Lee's . The board came and Smurfit is out of the tournament. Doug Lee now has 140,000 and in the top ten in chips.
