A Big Bad Blind Battle

Action passed around the table to the blinds where Allen Bari limped in for the extra half bet. In the big blind, Phillip Reed slid out a big gray stack of T5,000 chips for a total raise of 100,000. Bari quickly moved all in and Reed made the call, putting himself at risk of elimination.

"You got a pair?" asked Bari.

Showdown:
Bari: {6-Diamonds} {6-Hearts}
Reed: {A-Spades} {J-Spades}

Reed's overcards caught up on the flop of {J-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {7-Hearts}. The {A-Hearts} on the turn and the {5-Clubs} on the river kept him in the lead, and Reed earned himself a double up. When the chips were counted down, Reed had a total of 460,000, leaving Allen Bari with less than 40,000 funny money to play with.

Allen Bari Eliminated in 5th Place ($52,026)

Under the gun, Kyle Bowker opened with a raise to 55,000. Brent Roberts re-raised to 135,000, and Allen Bari called all in for his last 34,000. Bowker ducked out and let Roberts try for the knockout.

Showdown:
Roberts: {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts}
Bari: {4-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}

With his tournament life on the line, Allen Bari watched the dealer spread out the last board of his day: {8-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {A-Clubs}. Roberts' two pair is the winner, and he knocks off the dangerous Bari. For his work over the past three days, Allen Bari will take home more than $50,000. Not too shabby.

Robert vs. Roberts

Brent Roberts opened the pot with a raise to 50,000 from the cutoff seat. In the small blind, Robert McLaughlin made the call and it was heads up to the flop.

It showed up {4-Clubs} {7-Spades} {3-Diamonds}, and both men checked.

Fourth street came the {Q-Hearts}. McLaughlin checked, and Roberts bet 75,000, which McLaughlin called.

The last card off was the {4-Spades}. McLaughlin again passed, allowing Roberts to bet another 170,000 chips. After a moment, he called. Roberts turned over {Q-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}, and it was good as McLaughlin slipped his cards into the muck.

After that exchange, Roberts is up over the million mark, while McLaughlin has slipped back to 635,000.

The Pace of Play

Things have calmed down just a bit now with our final four. The last hour saw furious action, but the remaining players seemed to have settled into their seats a little bit. It appears that we are in the middle of another little feeling-out period. If the last level is any indication though, things should be picking back up shortly.

Bowker Bluffs His Way to More Chips

Robert McLaughlin raised to 55,000 on the button and Kyle Bowker reraised to 160,000 total from the small blind. Brent Roberts thought for a while before folding and McLaughlin called, bringing out a flop of {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {3-Diamonds}. Kyle slid a stack of pink chips worth 10,000 each into the middle and McLaughlin threw his hand away.

Bowker flipped up {8-Clubs} {2-Clubs} as he collected the chips, and is back up to 940,000.

A Showdown!

We've just seen our first showdown in almost 20 minutes.

Brent Roberts, in his typical fashion, opened another pot with a raise to 45,000. This time Robert McLaughlin opted to look him up, moving all in for a total of 265,000. Roberts went into the tank for a minute, standing up to stare down McLaughlin.

"I don't think you want me to call," he said with a big smirk. After a minute or two, he did indeed call.

Showdown:
Roberts: {A-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}
McLaughlin: {3-Spades} {7-Spades}

Roberts was right, and he made a fine call before the flop. Unfortunately for him, his play went unrewarded as the board ran out {9-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {8-Spades} {K-Spades} {2-Clubs}. Coming from behind to win that pot, Robert McLaughlin doubles his way up to 540,000.

Robert McLaughlin Eliminated in 4th Place ($69,368)

Robert McLaughlin limped in from the small blind and Kyle Bowker checked his option bringing out a {10-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} flop.

Robert led out 45,000 and Kyle called, leading to the {9-Diamonds} turn card. This time Robert checked it over to Kyle who fired 70,000. Robert called and the river came the {Q-Diamonds}. Robert took the initiative now and bet 120,000 and Kyle moved over the top all in. Robert called and showed {J-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} for a flush, but it was second best to Kyle's {A-Diamonds} {5-Clubs}.

Robert McLaughlin finishes in 4th place for $69,368
