Chainsaw Revving Early

Allen "Chainsaw" Kessler just took down a nice little pot in a hand that saw four-way preflop action.

Two players limped in before the action made its way around the table to Kessler in late position, who limped as well. The player with the button then raised to 200 and everyone who'd limped made the call; both blinds folded.

The flop came {7-Spades} {8-Spades} {4-Hearts} and the action checked around to the button who bet 650. One limper called, as did Kessler, sending the action three-way to the turn: {K-Spades}.

All three remaining players checked the turn, then the river {3-Spades}. The cards were then turned over:

Player 1: {7-Diamonds} {7-Clubs}
Kessler: {9-Spades} {9-Hearts}
Button: {J-?} {J-?}

Kessler's nine of spades gave him a flush, which was good enough to take down the pot, putting him at 16,600 in chips.

Lucky Sevens

Moment's after sawing through a set of sevens and a lower flush, Allen Kessler held pocket sevens on a flop of {7-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {5-Spades}. The board filled out {9-Spades} {10-Clubs} , and Kessler's set proved to be good enough as his opponent mucked an inferior hand. Kessler is up to about 21,500 as his early fortune continues.

Madsen Inching Back to Even

The Great White Hope
The Great White Hope
Jeff Madsen, two-time WSOP bracelet winner and poker's favorite white rapper, has just taken down a recent pot that kicked him back up to 12,500 in chips.

The hand began with a raise to 300 from a player in middle position. Action then folded around the table to Madsen in the big blind who chose to make the call. The flop came down {9-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} and Madsen check-called a 500 bet from his opponent.

The turn delivered the {7-Diamonds} and Madsen check-called once more, this time for 1,000.

The {8-Spades} was the last card off the deck and Madsen open-fired a 1,750 bet. His opponent took one last look at his cards before eventually tossing them into the muck.

Lance Oliver Floats River Boat at The Lake

Looking at a board of {A-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {4-Spades} and facing a raise of 3,000, Lance Oliver shipped all of his remaining chips into the middle. His opponent quickly called, putting himself at risk, and slammed down {3-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} for a wheel. Oliver turned over {A-?} {2-?} and knew he was in trouble. A harmless {10-Spades} was the turn, before an {A-?} came on the river to set the table off in sounds of 'oohs' 'ahhs', moans, and groans. Oliver, happy to scrape a sizable pot, acknowledged his suck out as he stacked his chips of approximately 36,800.

The Final Tally

The tournament staff have just informed us that there are a total of 132 players in today's field , which is ten less than last year's event. Registration is officially closed now and the prizepool and payout information will be posted shortly.
