Second Verse
Today is moving day at the World Series of Poker Circuit Harrah's Chester Main Event. Day 1 welcomed 269 players to the felt, and that number was reduced all the way down to just 55 by night's end. When the dust settled after 16 levels, Huy Nguyen was atop the leader board after turning his 20,000 starting chips into 241,400 in the chip bag. Nguyen is no stranger to this kind of success. He's already the owner of one Main Event ring from Choctaw, and he's therefore locked up a spot in the 100-player National Championship later this month.
But Nguyen's repeat is a long way from secure. Mike Rocco (not the one that won a bracelet in 2008), is in second place heading into today. He and Nguyen are the only players over 200,000 so far. But there are plenty getting close. Matt Brady had his hands on the chip lead for a chunk of Day 1, and he's gunning for his first ring and a second $1,500 title this year. He's in fourth place with 187,800 chips, and right behind him sits the dangerous Jake Toole with 186,500. Also still in the mix are Ari Engel, Kenny Nguyen, Miguel Borrero, and Mark "diphthong" Herm.
Here's how the field stacks up today:
