Hillman Counterfeited, Still Wins

Grant Hillman check-called a bet of 15,000 on the flop of {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades} against Dusty Leary. The turn brought the {5-Diamonds} and both players checked. The river completed the board with the {6-Spades} and Hillman checked again. Leary fired 25,000 and Hillman called.

Hillman tabled the {A-Spades}{4-Hearts} for a cunterfeited pair, but an ace-high kicker on the river with the two pair on board. Leary mucked and lost the pot.

Leary dropped back to 325,000 while Hillman moved up to 230,000.

So Long, Saca

George Saca
George Saca

George Saca opened to 15,000 from middle position, and Dusty Leary three-bet him to 40,000 next door. Saca made a quick call, and the two men went off to a heads-up flop.

It brought {J-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {A-Spades} and a check from both players, and the {4-Hearts} turn was where the action picked up. Saca led out with 63,000, close to half his remaining stack. Leary quickly announced an all in, and Saca instantly called to put himself at risk. It was a bit of a cooler:

Saca: {J-Diamonds} {J-Spades}
Leary: {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs}

Both men had flopped their sets, but Leary's trip aces had Saca drawing to one out for his survival. The {Q-Hearts} river was close but no cigar, and Saca wished his table luck before heading out into the casino.

Fleming Dominated, but Doubles

Action folded to Kevin Fleming in middle position and he moved all in for 36,000. Leroy Patitz made the call from the big blind and tabled the {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}. He was ahead of the {A-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for Fleming.

The flop came down {9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts} to give Fleming the lead even though he was dominated. The turn was the {J-Spades} and the river the {10-Clubs}. Fleming doubled back to about 76,000 and staved an elimination just a few spots off the money.

Barber Wins "10k Equity"

Andrew Barber
Andrew Barber

Andrew Barber raised all in from under the gun for 73,500. Action folded Ray Martin in the small blind and he made the call. "How bad is it?" asked Barber before watching Martin table the {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}. "Oh my god, it's so bad. It's so bad," Barber said after seeing Martin's hand and turning over his own, dominated {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}. "I'm the bubble king," said Barber. "Time to bubble like a champ. This is such a huge hand for me, it's like a 10k bubble," he finished before the dealer began to run the board.

The flop came down "{Q-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and Barber picked up a pair of queens to take the lead. He gasped and couldn't believe what had just happened to him.

The turn brought the {J-Hearts} and the river the {3-Spades} to keep Barber in front from the flop on and double him up.

"That's so huge. That's like 10k equity for me," said Barber. However much "equity" it may be, Barber's now gotten up to about 150,000 in chips.

Bubble Boy?

Reymundo Ozuna
Reymundo Ozuna

Reymundo Ozuna had just 7,500 chips to start the hand, and he put them all in from the small blind in the dark. Both Ned Mantua and Ken Churchill came along to see a flop with betting action still live between themselves.

The flop came out {3-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}, and Mantua check-called a bet of 7,000. On the {5-Spades} turn, he led out with 20,000 chips of his own, and Churchill called quickly to see the {K-Spades} land on the river. Ozuna was shaking his head. Mantua bet 20,000 again, and Churchill called one last time.

Ozuna showed up his {7-Clubs} {7-Spades}, and he seemed pretty sure it wasn't going to be good. It wasn't; Mantua turned over {5-Clubs} {5-Hearts}, and his turned trips earn him the knockout and a nice pot.

It appears that Ozuna is out in 28th place, but there's a hand brewing at the adjacent table right now, too.

We're In the Money!

Jeff Lennon
Jeff Lennon

The short stacks are shoving chips all over the place right now.

Jeff Lennon was all in for 17,000 before the flop, and Stanley Quinn had enough chips to call him down light with a chance for the knockout.

Lennon tabled {8-Clubs} {8-Spades}, a favorite to double up against Quinn's {Q-Hearts} {6-Spades}. Things were all peachy through fourth street as the dealer ran out {9-Hearts} {10-Spades} {K-Hearts} {2-Spades}. The river {Q-Diamonds} was a disaster, though, giving Quinn the pot and sending Lennon out of the ropes.

As he gathered his things, the tournament staff grabbed Lennon and told him to sit tight for a second. The flurry of all-in action meant we needed a head count to figure out whether or not the bubble had burst. A quick triple-check counted 26 players still in their seats, so Lennon has indeed snuck into the money as the 27th-place finisher. He'll take home $2,862 for his two days of work.

With that, we're off into the money without so much as a slowdown to think about hand-for-hand play. Even as we type, the players are still dropping fast!

Peterson's Jacks Go Down

Richard Peterson raised from under the gun to 24,000. Joseph Mongkoluaaree reraised from the cutoff seat to 100,000 even. Action folded back to Peterson and he moved all in for 110,000. Mongkoluaaree called.

Mongkoluaaree: {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Peterson: {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}

The door card was the {9-Spades} as the flop came down {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Spades} to put Mongkoluaaree in the lead with a set of nines and push Peterson closer to the door. The turn was the {4-Spades} and gave Peterson flush outs, but the {10-Hearts} on the river didn't save him and he was eliminated.

Barber Clipped

Andrew Barber
Andrew Barber

Andrew Barber has just been eliminated and with his 23rd-place finish, he'll earn 10 points to add to his 67.5 already earned. That puts him at 77.5 for the stop and he's still the frontrunner to be the Casino Champion. Leroy Patitz is still left and will need to finish in fifth place to earn 50 points and overtake hime. Patitz currently has 30 points while being guaranteed at least 10 points as it stands right now.
