Verrett Vanquished

Steve Verrett moved all in for his last 18,800 action watched as the field folded all the way to the big blind, who made the call.

Showdown
Verrett: {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Big Blind: {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}

Verrett's face was full of disappointment after learning he had run into a superior hand. Much to his dismay, he could not get lucky as the board ran out {K-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}. Verrett had deep runs on both Day 1a and 1b, but could not quite make it to Day 2.

A Nguyen for P0ker H0

Just before the level went up, a player in middle position opened for 3,300 only to have Khang Nguyen move all in for 33,000. Action folded around to Mark "P0ker H0" Kroon in the big blind, he squeezed out his cards, capped them, and then announced that he was all in. The original raiser quickly flicked his cards to the muck, discovering that it was a good laydown.

Showdown
Kroon: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}
Nguyen: {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

"All red," Kroon commanded the dealer, who obliged with a {10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} flop; however, it did give Nguyen a gut-shot straight draw to a jack. The {3-Clubs} turn was a blank as far as Nguyen was concerned, and so was the {9-Hearts} river. Kroon eliminated his opponent and chipped up to around 184K in the process.

Verrett Takes a Big Hit

Steve Verrett's recent table change doesn't seem to be doing him any favors. We wandered by his table just in time to see the dealer counting out Verrett's stack to pay an opponent who had just doubled. We're not sure what Verrett's hand was as the dealer had already killed it, but his opponent had {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} laid out in front of him on a {6-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} board.

Verrett was left with just 30,000 after the hand.

Man Up

When Steve Verrett's table was recently broke, he was relocated an aisle over and seated at the same table as his good friend Mark "P0ker H0" Kroon. Both players hail from Madison, Wisconsin and actually host a Saturday morning radio show devoted to poker, aptly titled "Man Up". It'll be interesting to see these two battle it out, with Kroon already requesting, "Make sure to get the hand when I bust him out."

Kroon Spikes the River to Scoop Monster Pot

Just before the break, we stumbled upon Mark "P0ker H0" Kroon's table and noticed a big hand in progress. On a flop of {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}, Kroon had checked to his opponent on the button, who fired out 12,000. Kroon then moved all in, and the button called. We're not sure of the exact amount, but we estimate the pot to be close to 90K.

Showdown
Kroon: {6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Button: {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}

"I have a lot of out," Kroon crowed just before the {9-Hearts} was put out on the turn. "You took away a lot of those out dealer," he added. Kroon, who busted in the first three hands on Day 1a, seemed to be having a reversal of fortune here today, as evidenced by the {3-Diamonds} that spiked on the river.

Kroon hit his card to scoop the huge pot and eliminate his opponent, increasing his stack to around 150,000. "Is there any way you can write that to not make me seem like a donk?" Kroon asked with a big smile on his face.
