Welcome Back to the World Series of Poker Circuit!

Day 1a
Day 1a

Good morning! We're at Harrah's Atlantic City for the World Series of Poker Circuit, where last year Matthew Waxman won the Main Event, shipping $117,797 and the WSOP-C gold ring. Waxman will not be defending his title - he's in Las Vegas - so we will be crowning a new champion this weekend!

Play in Day 1a will begin at 11 a.m. EST, ending around 5 p.m., and Day 1b will start promptly at 7 p.m. We've already spotted a few familiar faces in the crowd including Drazen Ilich, Ronald Lee, and Nicky Frangos.

Keep it locked right here at PokerNews.com for all of your live updates for today and the entire 2011-2012 WSOP-C!

Monroe Looking for Second Title

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

We found WSOPC IP Biloxi Main Event winner Jerry Monroe in the small blind. An early position raiser opened to 250 and three other players called, including Monroe. The flop came {7-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} and Monroe checked. The original raiser bet 350 and action folded back around to Monroe. He raised to 850 and after some short thought the original raiser folded.

Monroe is just over the starting stack and has eyes on collecting another Main Event ring.

Colin Off to Fast Start

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

Bryan Colin recently found his seat here at Harrah's, and soon after he won a big pot. When we reached the table, the board read {k-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. It was Colin's turn to bet, and he tossed out a little more than 2,000. His opponent quickly called.

Colin turned over {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades} for the nuts, and his opponent mucked.

Frangos Over Ilich

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

Nicky Frangos and Drazen Ilich were heads up with the board reading {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{j-Spades}. Both players checked, and the turn brought the {7-Hearts}. Frangos checked-called 725 from Ilich, and the river was another seven - the {7-Diamonds}.

Both players knuckled, and Frangos opened up {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for aces-up. Ilich peaked at his hand one more time before mucking.
