Overton Flush With Brikis' Chips

Aaron Overton
Aaron Overton

Aaron Overton opened to 43,000 from middle position, Josh Brikis called out of the cutoff, and the dealer fanned {10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{k-Hearts}. Overton continued for 36,000, and Brikis called.

The turn was the {7-Hearts}, and Overton led again - this time for 49,000. Brikis again called.

The {9-Spades} completed the board, and Overton paused before sliding out a tower of grey T5,000 chips. The bet was 190,000, and Brikis looked him up.

"Flush," Overton muttered, turning over {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}.

Brikis mucked his hand, and shipped Overton nearly half of his stack.

Halaska Doubles, Higgins Plummeting

The action has been crazy this afternoon and we found a huge pot brewing on the turn between former chipleader Ryan Higgins and Jeremy Halaska. A giant pot was already built and the board read {8-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {3-Clubs}. Halaska checked and induced a bet a from Higgins then Halaska shoved.

Higgins had a pained look on his face and took off his hat in frustration. He announced a call and turned over {6-Clubs} {5-Clubs} for a flush draw. Halaska held {7-Hearts} {3-Hearts} for trips.

"Nice defend," Higgins said.

The river bricked for Higgins when it fell {2-Diamonds} and he shipped a lot of chips across the table.

Justin Liberto opened in middle position, Cameron Hamilton called near the button, and Tyler Kenney put in a three-bet from the blinds. Liberto then four-bet jammed for nearly 800,000, Hamilton folded, and Kenney tank-called.

Showdown

Liberto{10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Kenney{a-Clubs}{q-Spades}

It was a massive flip for well over a million chips, and the {q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{6-Spades} flop gave Kenney a big lead. Neither the turn ({3-Diamonds}) nor the river ({4-Spades}) improved Liberto's hand, and he was eliminated in 15th place.

On the first hand back from break, Josh Brikis was all in for his tournament life holding a pair of sevens. Ryan Higgins had him at risk with king-jack, and there was a jack on the flop. Brikis failed to improve on both the turn and the river, and was eliminated from the tournament just short of the final table.
