Madsen Chipping Up

Jeff Madsen's seat is directly facing a picture of himself on the poker room wall. Apparently he is using it for motivation because he has been chipping up nicely all afternoon.

We caught his most recent success on the turn of a {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} board. The pot had already grown to over 10,000 chips and Madsen used his first action to move his opponent all in. While Madsen still had over 36,000 remaining, his opponent had just under 20,000 and was forced to make a decision for his tournament life. Eventually, the player folded and Madsen raked in the pot.

Clements Catches The Turn

Scott Clements, fresh off his 5th place finish in a $1,000 prelim event yesterday, is playing Day 1b today, and has just won a nice pot to boost his stack to over 25,000. The flop came out {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}, and his opponent, who Clements was heads up with, fired out 700 into the pot of 1,500. Clements called, and the turn brought the {6-Spades}. This time his opponent checked, and Clements bet out 1,600. He was called, and the river came the {3-Clubs}. After his opponent checked again, Clements threw out a bet of 4,100, and his opponent called. Clements tabled {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for a turn set, and his opponent mucked.

Unofficial Straddle

A player first to act threw in 400 chips preflop before the cards were even dealt. Once he had his cards, he found himself three-handed with no option to check or raise. The flop was {5-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{10-Clubs} which drew a bet from the player in position, Sujeet Mehta, worth 600. Only the blind raiser called.

The turn was the {3-Clubs} and it was checked again to Mehta who moved his opponent all in for his last 2,000 or so chips. The bet was quickly called and the hands revealed.

Mehta: {j-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Opponent: {9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

It looked like the blind raiser was going to get lucky but the river bricked out with the {k-Spades} eliminating him from the tournament.

Elezra Looks Up His Opponent

The player in the cutoff opened the pot with a raise to 550 which was called by both of the blinds including Eli Elezra in the small blind. The flop was {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and both players checked to the preflop raiser who continued for 1000. Only Elezra called.

The turn was the {3-Diamonds} which brought two quick checks. The river was the {k-Spades} and for a third time, Elezra checked. The player in position took one more stab at it with a bet worth 1,500. Elezra tossed in the chips as his opponent meekly turned over his {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}. Elezra tabled {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds} for just Ace-high but it was good enough to ship the pot and get him back over the starting stack.

Rosenblum Slips

We picked up the action on a {a-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} flop with Russell Rosenblum having bet 750 from the button. The player in the big blind position check-raised to 1,750 and Rosenblum called.

The turn was the {9-Clubs} and the player first to act fired out 2,500. Rosenblum called.

The river was the {q-Spades} and this time the player led out with a bet worth 6,550. Rosenblum contemplated his decision for a little while before eventually deciding that a fold was his best course of action.
