Kim Doubles Through Woelfel

Wade Woelfel opened to 53,000 in the hijack and action folded to Sung Kim in the big blind. He went all in for 555,000 and Woelfel called after a few moments with {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}, leading the {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs} of Kim.

The flop was a great one for Kim as it came down {Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} to give him a straight. The {A-Diamonds} hit the turn to give Woelfel outs to a full house, but the river {7-Hearts} secured the double up for Kim.

Deeter Doubles

Sung Kim raised to 48,000 from the hijack seat, then Trevor Deeter pushed for 231,000 from the button. The blinds stepped aside, and Kim called Deeter's raise.

Kim had {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} while Deeter turned over {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}. The flop came {7-Hearts}{8-Spades}{K-Spades} to improve Deeter to a set, and when the {4-Clubs} fell on the turn the river {6-Diamonds} had become inconsequential.

Twos for Teasdale

Adam Teasdale raised to 50,000 from the cutoff seat, then Aaron Overton reraised to 151,000 from the small blind and Teasdale called. Overton led with a bet of 96,000 following the {3-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop, and Teasdale called. The turn then brought the {A-Diamonds} and a check from Overton, to which Teasdale responded by betting 150,000 and Overton called.

The river was the {5-Clubs}. Overton checked, and Teasdale announced a bet of 232,000. Overton thought a short while then called, and Teasdale turned over {2-Spades}{2-Clubs} for a straight. Overton stared at the board and Teasdale's cards for a little while, then moved to carve out the chips he owed.

Gregory Fishberg Eliminated in 12th Place ($14,488)

After having scored that small double-up just before, Gregory Fishberg's Main Event run soon came to an end in 12th.

His last hand began with a raise to 48,000 by Sung Kim from the button, followed by a reraise to 124,000 by Wade Woelfel from the small blind. Fishberg then reraise-pushed for 346,000 total from the big blind, getting Kim to fold but earning a call from Woelfel.

Woelfel: {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Fishberg: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

Fishberg had the edge prior to the community cards' arrival, but after they came {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, Woelfel had drawn a straight and Fishberg had been knocked out.

Go Fishberg

Gregory Fishberg just earned a double-up and survival after having open-pushed for 188,000 from the button with {J-Spades}{2-Spades} and gotten called by Ed Modlin in the big blind with {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}.

The {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{K-Hearts} flop paired Modlin twice, then the {7-Hearts} turn meant Modlin was still ahead. But the {10-Diamonds} came for Fishberg on the river to make his straight and keep his tourney run going.

Jack Thomas Eliminated in 13th Place ($11,809)

It folded around to Adam Teasdale in the small blind who eyed his neighbor Jack Thomas's stack of less than 300,000 and raised, and Thomas called. The pair saw the flop come {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and subsequent betting left Thomas all in with {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs} (middle pair) and Teasdale in front with {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs} (top pair).

The turn was the {K-Hearts} and river the {3-Hearts}, and Thomas is out. Just a dozen players remain.

Double, Double, Toil and Trouble

A couple of double-ups occurred just before the conclusion of the previous level, in both cases the winning players using pocket queens to survive.

In one Jack Thomas doubled his short stack through Adam Teasdale after Thomas's {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs} held versus Teasdale's {5-Hearts}{5-Spades}. The other hand saw Sung Kim with {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades} versus Gregory Fishburg's {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}, and once again the better pair held.

Brandon Fish Eliminated in 14th Place ($11,809)

Terry Grimes limped from UTG+1, then Event #2 ($365 NLHE) winner Brandon Fish raised from the cutoff seat, and it folded back to Grimes who called.

The flop came {3-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{10-Spades}, and Grimes announced he was all in. Fish called quickly with the 670,000 he had left, tabling {10-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for a flopped two pair. Grimes showed {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs} for top pair of queens. The turn was the {9-Hearts}, giving Grimes a straight draw, then the river brought the {Q-Diamonds} to improve Grimes to trips and send Fish out in 14th place.

Fish can take consolation, though, in the fact that by virtue of his finish here in the Main Event, he currently leads the WSOP-C Harrah's Resort Atlantic City Casino Champion race with just a couple more events to be completed today.

And speaking of leading the way, that hand pushes Grimes into first position with 13 left.
