Liu Leaves Us

Jingjing Liu - Day 1b
Jingjing Liu - Day 1b

Jingjing Liu began play today as the chip leader but unfortunately she saw her demise just before the dinner break. Action folded to Liu's button and she moved her short-stack of 44,000 all in. Mike MacCannell looked down at his cards in the big blind and called.

Liu: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
MacCannell: {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}

MacCannell was behind to start the hand but finished in the lead after the board fell {8-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}. By scoring this knockout, MacCannell is now sitting on about 375,000.

Another Double For Kellner

Kelly Kellner, who was just moments ago sporting a meek 20,000-chip stack, has doubled up once more.

Kellner got his money in with pocket jacks, the {J-Diamonds} and the {j-Clubs} to be exact, against an opponent's {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts} The board came down {Q-Clubs}{2-Spades}{J-Spades}{K-Spades}{10-Spades} and Kellner was able to further solidify his place on the comeback trail. He now has roughly 145,000.

Chan Pushes Back

Lillian Chan finished Day 1c as the chip lead and it seems there has been no stopping her upward trending today, either.

We caught Chan heads up in a pot with Ahmed Amin where the flop read {6-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{A-Spades}. Chan shot out a bet of 19,000 only to have Amin come over the top for 42,000 total. Chan sat riffling chips for a moment before pulling her bet back and coming out with a three-bet to 72,000. Amin went into the tank for well over a minute before finally letting go and awarding Chan the pot. She's currently sporting a stack of 530,000.

Kellner Hanging On

We found a super short-stacked Kelly Kellner all in for his last 20,000 before the flop against two players. The flop was {J-Clubs}{5-Spades}{8-Spades} and after a bet from one of his opponents and a fold from another, the hands were tabled:

Kellner: {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Opponent: {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

The turn was a meaningless {2-Hearts} but the {6-Diamonds} on the river filled Kellner's straight and scored him a little more than a triple up. He's now at about 70,000.
