Day 1b of the 2012-13 World Series of Poker Circuit Harrah's Cherokee Main Event is on the horizon, and the staff here anticipates a very large field of both new players and reentrants. Day 1a attracted 354 players, and there is a slim chance we could double that number today.
Among the reentrants we expect today are WSOP bracelet winners Josh Arieh, Ken "Teach" Aldridge, and Chris Bell. All three players busted on Day 1a, with Bell busting in the last level of the night. Both Bell and Aldridge are North Carolina natives, and Aldridge announced the ceremonial "shuffle up and deal" yesterday.
There will also be plethora of new players, including dozens of super satellite winners. The staff here has been running satellites all weeks, and there are still hopefuls grinding away for a seat in the Main Event as we type this.
All of the players who enter today will be looking up to Day 1a chip leader David Nicholson. He and five-time ring winner Kyle Cartwright bagged over 200,000 chips, setting a very strong pace for the rest of the field.
The cards will be in the air in 50 minutes or so. We will be playing 15 40-minute levels, with an hour dinner break after Level 9. Be sure to check back for all of your exclusive, up-to-the-minute updates from the tournament floor.
