The World Series of Poker Circuit Choctaw Durant $1,700 Main Event is just one of a dozen gold ring events at the stop.

One that wrapped up in recent days was Event #12: $250 No-Limit Hold’em Multi-Flight, a tournament that attracted 594 entrants and created a $118,800 prize pool. In the end, 37-year-old Khang Luu beauty shop owner from Walton, Kentucky emerged victorious to win the tournament for $22,842 and his first gold ring.

“I was up and down throughout the final table,” he told WSOP officials after the win “There was a point that I got lucky and was able to bounce back. It was up and down… it feels really good.”

According to the WSOP, the turning point during the hard-fought final table was during three-handed play, which involved the overwhelming chip leaders. 33-year-old Pharmacist Tiffany Keathley raised preflop and got called by Luu. The dealer tabled a rainbow flop of {5-}{5-}{4-} and both players checked. The turn fell a {2-} and the action heated-up. Keathley raised and with little hesitation Luu quickly re-raised. Moments later, Keathley raised all-in and our Luu went deep into the tank.

After a few minutes of contemplation, Luu called and flipped over pocket fours for the flopped full-house and Keathley showed her {a-}{3-} straight. A blank {10-} came on the river but it didn’t matter as she was drawing dead on the turn.

“Well, I just hope she didn’t have quads. There was a paired flop and she raised pre-flop and then she checked on the flop, she could could’ve set a trap there. When she bet on the turn and re-raised her and she pushed all-in, I was afraid that she might have quads. I had a hand that I could not fold. I was hoping that she had a set of deuces.”
