More Chips for Cartwright

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

The action folded around to Larry Riggs on the button who raised it up to 7,500. Kyle Cartwright and Lytle Allen both called from the blinds. The flop fell {6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and the blinds checked to Riggs who continued for 13,000. Cartwright called and Allen stepped aside.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds} and Cartwright checked again. He was quickly faced with another bet of 13,000 from Riggs and Cartwright still called. The {j-Spades} landed on the river and both players tapped the table. Riggs showed {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a missed flush draw while Cartwright held {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} for the best hand.

Pho and White Clash with Big Stacks at Risk

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Chico Pho raised it up in middle position and Marshall White called from the small blind as two of the biggest stacks at the table went heads-up to the flop. The dealer fanned the flop of {j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and White check-called a bet of 6,500 from Pho.

The turn brought the {4-Diamonds} and White elected to lead out with a bet of 17,000. Pho matched him with a call and the {3-Clubs} completed the board. White checked this time and Pho counted out a bet of 46,000. White gave it some thought but decided to lay his hand down.

"Show the bluff!" White pleaded. "The reporter is right here." Pho declined and his cards went face down into the muck.

Miles Takes One Out

Level 14 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

There was a raise to 6,000 from under the gun and Jody Stanfill and Timothy Miles both called next to act. The big blind ripped all in for 30,500 which got the initial raiser and Stanfill to fold but Miles made the call.

Timothy Miles: {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

Miles found himself in a tough spot and Stanfill made it even tougher by saying that he folded a jack. The flop of {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} still left Miles grasping at straws but the {j-Clubs} on the turn was exactly what he was looking for. The {5-Hearts} on the river ensured Miles of the win with two pair.

Allen Deliberates but Makes the Right Decision

Level 14 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Lytle Allen made it 5,500 from under the gun and picked up three callers heading to the flop of {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. The big blind checked and Allen continued for 11,500. The player on his left quickly raised to 30,000 and Roger Campbell was next to act who shipped all in for 74,000.

The big blind folded and Allen went into the tank for a bit before pushing in the last of his 97,000 chips. The player on his left asked for a count and also tanked for a couple of minutes with an obvious tough decision but elected to fold.

Lytle Allen: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Roger Campbell: {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

"I'm gambling," Campbell said as he turned over his open-ended straight draw. The {4-Hearts} on the turn and the {q-Diamonds} on the river were both bricks and Allen scooped a healthy pot to eliminate Campbell.

Walker Miskelly

PokerNews is in town to live report the $1,700 Main Event here at the World Series of Poker Circuit at Horseshoe Tunica, but that is just one of the gold ring events that will have played out by the end of the series.

In Event #7: $400 Monster Stack, 738 entrants created a $243,540 prize pool that was paid out to the top 107 places. Among those to make deep runs were Scott Stewart (6th - $7,817), Joel Klipping (11th - $3,121), Michael Lech (14th - $2,612), Heather Alcorn (19th - $2,001), Hamid Izadi (22nd - $1,819), and Michael Sanders (31st - $1,382).

In the end, Walker Miskelly of Tupelo, Mississippi defeated Jesse Greer in heads-up play to win the title, $43,209 in prize money, and his first gold ring.

“I’m super excited. Right when we got to the final table, I came in second in chips and I went 0 for 2 on the first two flips. I went down to about 13 big blinds at one point, then I doubled with aces against queens and I just didn’t really looked back from there,” Miskelly said after his win.

The 27-year-old added: “When I came into heads-up play, I only had 5 million to his 17 million. I had a lot of work to do there, but I knew I had to be the aggressor and keep applying pressure.”

Miracle River Gives Cartwright a Double Up

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Kyle Cartwright
Kyle Cartwright

Joseph Papageorgeon opened to 4,000 from under the gun and managed to pick up four callers along the way. With over 20,000 in the middle, five players saw a flop of {8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}. The action checked around and the {q-Spades} landed on the turn.

Four more checks and Kyle Cartwright saw an opportunity to take the pot with a bet of 5,500 on the button. Papageorgeon called as did Roger Campbell on his left.

The river was the {j-Clubs} and Papageorgeon led out with a bet of 14,500. Campbell quickly folded but Cartwright shipped all in for an even 50,000. Papageorgeon thought for a minute before sticking in a call. Cartwright turned over {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} for a rivered straight which was enough to best Papageorgeon's {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}.

Sheaves Spikes the River to Eliminate Apter

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Warren Sheaves
Warren Sheaves

Picking up the action on the turn, Warren Sheaves and Brett Apter were heads-up in a pot with around 35,000 in the middle. The board read {k-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Sheaves announced all in, putting Apter to the test for his remaining 25,000 plus chips.

Apter made the call and held the best hand with {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}. Sheaves still had plenty of outs with {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and one of those outs came in the form of the {8-Hearts} on the river. Sheaves improved to two pair and Apter was ousted.
