Miller Gets Shoved Into

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

There was a raise to 7,000 from under the gun and Christopher Miller flat-called on his left. Jesse Jones also called from the big blind and they went three ways to a flop of {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. Jones checked to the preflop raiser who continued for 11,000 and Miller raised it up to 24,000. Jones quickly folded but Miller's other opponent called.

The {10-Hearts} paired the board on the turn and the action checked to Miller who threw in a bet of 30,000. His opponent counted out his stack before check-raising all in for a little under 100,000. Miller instantly called and was pleased with the result.

Miller turned over {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs} which was ahead of his opponent's straight draw with {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}. The {7-Diamonds} completed the board and Miller eliminated his opponent while stacking up nearly 400,000 chips.

Ideal Flop Gives Miskelly a Double Up

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

With around 50,000 in the middle already, the dealer fanned the flop of {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs}. Walker Miskelly was heads-up and it didn't take long for the two players to get all of their chips in the middle. Miskelly found himself at risk for 108,000 but was in a great position to double up.

Miskelly turned over {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for a set of tens while his opponent was drawing slim with her {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}. The {8-Hearts} on the turn and the {4-Hearts} on the river confirmed the double up for Miskelly who vaulted up the leaderboard.

Aces Full for Hoang

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

There was a raise to 6,500 from early position and call in middle position before the action got Loi Hoang in the hijack. Hoang three-bet to 18,500 and the action folded back to the initial raiser who shoved all in for around 60,000. The player in middle position quickly folded and Hoang looked back at his cards before making the call.

Loi Hoang: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Opponent: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}

Hoang was already in a dominant position and the flop of {a-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs} put him even further ahead. The {j-Diamonds} on the turn sealed the deal and the {8-Clubs} on the river improved Hoang to a full house.

Small's Kicker is Large Enough

Level 14 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Shawn Small raised it up to 5,500 in middle position and Joshua Johnson defended from the big blind. The flop fell {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and Johnson check-called a bet of 4,000 from Small.

The turn brought the {8-Hearts} and Johnson checked it over to Small again. Small fired out another bet of 10,000 and Johnson stuck around to see the {6-Clubs} on the river. Both players knuckled the table and Johnson showed {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. Small flipped over {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for a better ace-high and claimed the pot.

Bryan Salerno Finds Redemption in Event #5: $400 NLH 6-Handed

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

PokerNews is in town to live report the $1,700 Main Event here at the World Series of Poker Circuit at Horseshoe Tunica, but that is just one of the gold ring events that will have played out by the end of the series.

Event #5: $400 NLH 6-Handed attracted 238 entries and offered up a $78,540 prize pool that was reserved for the top 36 players. Among those to cash were Brett Apter (6th - $2,868), Gary Lambert (10th - $1,659), Michael Sanders (15th - $1,062), Kip Jones (25th - $665), and Heather Alcorn (36th - $603).

Coming out on top was Bryan Salerno, who claimed the title for $18,438 and his first gold ring. It was redemption as he had finished in second place in the same tournament the year before.

“I feel great. Last year I came second in this event, it was a brutal beat, and I haven’t gotten to play very much, so coming back this year and winning it feels pretty good,” Salerno said after his victory.

Kelley Scores Another Monster Pot

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Bryant Kelley
Bryant Kelley

There was a raise to 6,000 and the small blind stuck in a three-bet to 18,000. Bryant Kelley just flat-called out of the big blind and the initial raiser folded. On a board that ran out {6-Hearts}{3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{7-Spades}, the table relayed to us afterward that the small blind led out on the flop and the turn, creating a pot of well over 100,000 already.

On the river, the small blind jammed all in and Kelley made the call for his remaining 101,500 chips. The small blind reluctantly showed {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a complete bluff and Kelley held {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} for two pair. Kelley pulled in a pot of over 300,000 chips and left his opponent with just one big blind.
