Bernasconi Scores a Fortunate Double

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

In the last hand prior to the break, Giorgio Bernasconi had jammed a shorter stack of around 20,000 with the {8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. Paul van Alst opted to call with the {k-Clubs}{10-Spades} with three opponents behind and saw the board run out {5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{2-Spades} for Bernasconi to double.

"He can do that with everything," van Alst suggested to Jacek Skiscim before they headed into the break.

Jalba Scores a Double Through Moutaoukil

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Eusebiu Jalba
Eusebiu Jalba

Four ways to the {j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop, Georgios Tsouloftas checked and Mathias Moutaoukil bet 5,500. Eusebiu Jalba pushed all-in for the last 16,100 and Christian Bertu folded, as did Tsouloftas. Moutaoukil eyeballed the short stack of his opponent for 20 seconds and called.

Eusebiu Jalba: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}
Mathias Moutaoukil: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

The {j-Diamonds} turn was a sweat but the aces prevailed on the {q-Spades} river.

Ruzicka Doubles Through Van Boxtel

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Vojtech Ruzicka
Vojtech Ruzicka

On the completed board of {10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Spades}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades} with exactly 37,000 in the middle, Vojtech Ruzicka pushed all-in for 31,700. Raul van Boxtel was his sole remaining opponent and asked the dealer to spread the pot while he was in the tank.

Ultimately, the Dutchman called and Ruzicka tabled the {k-Spades}{9-Spades} for a flush. "He can have everything there, ace king ..." van Boxtel said as he had exposed the {6-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for a hero-call gone wrong.

Andriopoulos Flushed Away By Usta

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

On a completed board of {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}{6-Spades}{5-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, Leonidas Andriopoulos had a near pot-sized bet of 14,500 in front and then faced the shove by Ibrahim Usta with the far larger stack.

Andriopoulos mulled it over for a while and Usta remarked "I only play the nuts, bro". That then prompted Andriopoulos to call all-in and he was indeed shown {a-Spades}{k-Spades} for the nut flush, revealing his {q-Spades}{j-Spades} before exiting the tournament area.

Refos Chips Up Through Van Boxtel

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Some kind of Dutch home game is happening on table 113 with several players all joking in their native language for at least one hour.

Raul van Boxtel has become the biggest stack there and just bet a heads-up river of {a-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for 6,000. Raoul Refos called and was good with the {k-Hearts}{k-Spades} as van Boxtel tabled the {a-Clubs}{5-Spades} for two pair.

"I thought I was value betting, he cannot raise there with the straight possible," he said. Three of the Dutch players are currently also enjoying a massage there while Vojtech Ruzicka arrived on a re-entry.

Strauch Busts Kamphues

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

As recalled by Michael Strauch, he claimed the stack of Timo Kamphues when he flat-called a raise to 2,400. On a {j-}{5-}{4-} flop, Strauch check-called for 5,000 and check-jammed a {8-} turn. Kamphues called with seven-six for a straight but failed to hold up against pocket eights as the {4-Diamonds} river paired the board.
