Curt Buettner is enjoying playing at the World Series of Poker. Buettner flew down from Wasilla, Alaska, where it is sunny 24 hours a day right now and the best time of year. With the long cold, dark winters in Alaska, June is not when you want to take a vacation. Playing at the World Series of Poker is one of the few reasons anyone from Alaska would leave during the summer. Let's hope his trip turns out to be worth missing the Annual Summer Solstice celebrations.

Isaac Haxton Takes A Big Pot

With a pile of chips already in the middle Isaac Haxton moved all-in after a {10-Spades}

flop. The other player called and showed {8-Diamonds}

for the set, while Haxton had a flush draw with {K-Spades}

. The turn brought the {A-Spades}

to give him the flush and when the {Q-Hearts}

failed to pair the board Haxton won a pot that pushed his stack up to 9,000.

Paul Wolfe Survives

Before the flop Paul Wolfe moved in with pocket fours, only to find that he'd run into pocket Aces. But he spiked a four on the flop to double his stack to 3,000.

Chris "Jesus" Ferguson Playing Two Events Again

Chris Ferguson showed up a little late for this event. He is still in the H.O.R.S.E. event that restarts at 4 pm today, but he said he was short-stacked with only 3,000 chips left, and might as well start in this event too and see how it goes.

Ferguson is well know for being able to chip-up at his table in one event and move to another event and do the same. It's nice to keep your options open.

Peter was the co-author (with Nolan Dalla) of the great biography of Stu Unger entitled "One of a Kind: The Rise and Fall of Stuey 'The Kid' Ungar, The World's Greatest Poker Player" and the author of his own autobiographical tale of the 2005 WSOP, "Take Me to the River: A Wayward and Perilous Journey to the World Series of Poker"
