Back from Break

Players have returned from break and the cards are in the air.

The tournament staff just announced that if we haven't reached the money by 2:00 a.m., play will continue until the field reaches 81 players.

Perry's on a Roll

On a board showing {K-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{9-Hearts}, an opponent moved all in against Perry Friedman for 38,400.

Perry provided some insightful commentary while considering his play:

"Pass or don't pass..."

"I think I might be ahead..."

"This is sick!"

"I call."

Perry's read was dead-on. His opponent turned over the {K-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, for top pair with a ten kicker and Perry pumped his fist realizing he was ahead, showing {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}, for top pair, queen kicker, with the second-nut flush draw.

The {A-Hearts} on the turn put the icing on the cake for Perry, who brought his stack past the 100K mark on the hand.

Hellmuth Adds to His Stack

Preflop, Phil Hellmuth makes it 4,500 to go and gets called by a late-position player and the big blind.

Flop: {Q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}

After the big blind checks the flop, Phil bets out 5,000 and only the big blind calls.

The turn is the {4-Spades} and Phil bets 9,000 into his opponent. While his opponent thinks over the call Phil tells him, "I'll take this one, you take the next one." The tactic works, his opponent mucks, and Phil announces, "The only thing I was worried about was if he had a set of sevens."

Friedman Rivers a Six; Knocks Out Opponent

Perry Friedman called an opponent's 19,800 preflop all-in bet, saying, "I hope we're racing.

If it was a race, then Perry's opponent got a huge head start, turning over pocket queens to Perry's sixes.

Perry would catch up in the end, though, hitting a miracle six on the river. The hand brought Perry's chip count up to 72,000.
