Hellmuth Makes a Loose Call

With one limper in front of him, Phil Hellmuth called from the small blind and the big blind checked. The flop came {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and Phil bet 150; the big blind called and the limper folded.

Both players checked after the turn brought the {3-Spades}. The board paired when the {Q-Clubs} fell on the river, and Phil checked to his opponent, who bet 300. Phil made the call and his opponent showed {Q-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for trip Queens. Hellmuth turned over {K-Hearts}{9-Spades} for nothing but King high.

"You see what I did?" said Phil after the hand. "I called with K-9. Nobody else would have made that call."

Phil dropped to 4,400 on the hand.

From "Poker Sauna" to "Poker Igloo"

We've overheard many players complaining that it's too cold in the Player Pavilion; earlier in the series, everyone was unhappy because it was too hot.

Bryan Devonshire thinks he got it figured out: "I think the air conditioning is just another play by Harrah's. It forces everyone to buy a sweatshirt or a jacket."

Whatever the case may be, conditions are rather chilly in the tent.
