Event 37 - $2,000 Pot Limit Holdem

Day 1 Completed

That's a Wrap

Day 1 action from Event 37 is officially complete. 45 players survived the day, including 2007 bracelet winner Michael Keiner, 6-time bracelet winner T.J. Cloutier, and Kevin O'Donnell who finished 21st at last year's WSOP Main Event.

The chip leader going into Day 2 is James Henson, who has amassed a monster stack of 169,000 chips. Not far behind is Richard Ferro, who held the chip lead for much of the day by playing some very solid big stack poker. Look for both players to produce solid performances on Day 2.

Play will recommence tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 p.m. PDT. Join us as we continue our coverage of Event 37 from the Amazon Room here at the Rio.

Until then, good luck and good night!

Final Day 1 Eliminations

The following players were eliminated in the closing minutes of Day 1 and all received $4,797 in prize money:

46: George Anthony
47: Gary Leibovitz
48: Dave Colclough
49: Alan Cutler

Paul Wolfe Eliminated

Paul Wolfe got all of his money into the pot before the flop with {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds} against the {A-Spades}{10-Clubs} of Devin Porter, but it wasn't meant to be for Wolfe. The flop brought an ace for Porter and the turn and river blanked out, sending Wolfe home in 50th place, with an extra $4,797 in change.

Insta-Pop

Less than a minute after we started hand-for-hand play, the bubble burst and all remaining players are now in the money.

The first 9 players eliminated from this point on will all receive $4,797 in prize money.

1 For the Money

We just lost our 56th place finisher, Ron Faltinsky, who made his last stand with the {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}, which was defeated by an opponent's {A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}, making a pair of 5's on the turn.

We're now playing the tournament hand-for-hand.

Back from Break

The players are back and the color up is complete. The absence of black chips on the tables makes it look as though the players are much closer in chips than they really are.

Richard Ferro is still at the top of the heap, with only 3 players left to the money. Stay with us.
