"I'm all mixed up!"

We caught up with Perry Friedman on the break and asked him what he thought of the mixed games format.

"I've only played the mixed games so far. I played the opening event and now this one. So far this Series, I'm all mixed up!"

Gavin Smith Hits Straight on the River

A player bet 1500 from late position and Gavin Smith called from the big blind. The flop came {J-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs} and both players checked. The turn came {5-Spades}, Smith bet 1800, his opponent pushed all-in for 2700 more and Smith called. The river came {2-Diamonds}. Smith showed {A-Hearts}{3-Clubs} for a straight to win the pot. His opponent showed pocket jacks before he threw them into the muck.

Gavin Smith Doubles Up

Gavin Smith
Gavin Smith
In early position Gavin Smith raised to 800 and was called by the player to his right and the big blind. The flop came {6-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {6-Spades} and Smith's 2800 bet was called by the player to his right. The {7-Clubs} was good enough for Gavin to push with and his opponent decided to call. Smith had pocket Nines, his opponent pocket Threes, and after a blank hit on the river Gavin Smith had doubled up to 15,000.

Shannon Elizabeth Wins a Nice Pot

Facing a single limper, Shannon Elizabeth made it 1200 to go from the small blind and was called. The {A-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {A-Spades} flop froze the action for the moment, but when the {2-Diamonds} turned Elizabeth bet 1200 again and was called. She checked the {5-Spades} on the river and called when her opponent bet 2900. Her {10-Diamonds} {10-Spades} was good enough to take the pot and she currently has 19,500.

Nam Le is Eliminated

After the player UTG made a 1200 raise, Nam Le and the big blind both called. The flop came {5-Hearts} {6-Spades} {3-Hearts} and the big blind bet 3800. The UTG player folded but Le raise all-in--or, at least he tried to. He could only bet the pot and that left him with 3,000 behind, and the big blind just called.

When the {K-Clubs} fell on the turn the little bit remaining ended up in the middle and Le showed {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} for the nut flush draw. The other player made two pair with {5-Spades} {3-Clubs}, and when he didn't catch a heart on the river Nam Le was eliminated.
